Hey, wonderful friends and supporters! Beanie here with another paws-itive update from my foster home!
Can you believe it? I've been here for nearly two weeks, and I'm really settling in! My foster family and I are definitely past first impressions, and I'm learning the ropes of this whole "manners" thing they keep talking about. They call it an "impulse control program," but I just see it as good etiquette! For example, I've mastered waiting patiently for my dinner signal before diving in, and I know exactly what to do when they tell me "go to bed." I guess you could say I'm a pretty quick study!
I've also been enjoying some fun playdates with another four-legged friend. We definitely love a good rough-and-tumble session, but I promise I'm not a bully! My favorite game is still a good old-fashioned chase—and being chased, of course, for a long time! My foster family also takes me on wonderful nature walks where I can be trusted to stay close. I am, however, still working on resisting the urge to "high five" every single dog I meet with my nose. Some of them just aren't ready for my enthusiasm!
Now, about my chewing habits... I admit, shoes and slippers have, on occasion, seemed like prime chew toy material to me. My bad! But honestly, when they leave them all over the floor, what's a pup to do? Luckily, I've got plenty of awesome chewies of my own, and I'm happy to find big sticks to gnaw on in the yard too.
And I'm even starting to find my voice! The fosters say I don't really bark, I howl. I prefer to think of it as singing, especially when I get super excited or have something important to say.
Thanks for following my journey! More updates coming soon!

Hey friends, I'm Beans, an eight month-old black lab mix, and happy to meet you! Mostly, I’m happy just being me!
Now, let's talk about my favorite thing in the world: balls! Big balls, small balls, squeaky balls, bouncy balls – I love them all! I'm perfectly happy entertaining myself, tossing a ball around, chasing it, and pouncing on it. It's a great way to burn off some energy, and honestly, it's just plain fun!
Sometimes I get a little rowdy, but I'm told I have high self-regulation skills, which basically means I'm pretty good at managing my own energy and behavior. In other words, I read the room! If the foster humans insist on doing things humans do, I know how to relax and do my own thing. For example, I'm a big fan of a good chew toy. I have been known to pick up a slipper or door stop and chew it … whoops! No pup is perfect! But I’m easily redirected to my own chews.
I absolutely love my crate. It's my cozy little den, my safe space where I can relax. When the foster humans leave me home alone while they go out for short periods (I want to think they’re going on supply runs to get me more treats and chews!), I’m perfectly happy to relax in my crate. When nighttime rolls around, I'm happy to sleep on my own bed – no fuss, just sweet dreams. Oh, and I'm totally housebroken, so you don't have to worry about any accidents inside!
I love walks, and my humans say I’m a good leash walker. But when I see potential pals, I really really want to say hello and play. I’m learning the concept of manners, and that it’s polite to ask for permission before wrestling! Though I’m told I have good play skills. I also love hiking; the sniffs are so delicious!
I’m also told that I’m a fast learner, especially where yummy treats are involved. My sit is solid, and my recall is pretty good, as long as I know you’re talking to me (and I don’t pretend that you’re not!). I know there is lots more to learn and more of the world to explore, and I can’t wait to see what life has to offer with my forever family!
Note: Beans will be available for adoption once his neuter surgery is complete. In the meantime, don’t hesitate to submit your application.
