9/12/2025: Hi friends, Buffie here, checking in! Wow—what a month it’s been! My foster sister and I are officially best buddies now, and our daily wrestling matches are the highlight of my day. I’ve also been out on lots of adventures—exploring new walking trails and parks like a seasoned pro. Foster mom even got me a new, comfy harness, and she says I’m walking beautifully now. I’m still the same sweet, cuddly girl at heart. If there’s a lap available, you’ll probably find me snuggled in it for a snooze. I also love a good game of fetch, so if you toss a ball for me, I’m all in! Most days, you’ll catch me lounging on the couch, entertaining myself with a toy, or goofing around with my foster sister. I get along well with other dogs, but I do best with slow introductions. Honestly, being your one-and-only four-legged friend would be even better—I’d love to have you all to myself! Here are a few more things you should know about me: ~I LOVE car rides and make an excellent passenger. ~I’m not destructive and I don’t counter surf—promise! ~I’m super smart, I listen well, and I’m eager to please. A few people have shown interest in me, but so far, the timing hasn’t been right. Now that the busy summer is behind us, I know my forever family is out there, ready to find me. Could that be you? I can’t wait to meet you!
8/2/2025: Buffie here, checking in again! I can't believe I've been at my foster home for 8 weeks now! Foster mom says I've settled in really well and have gotten really comfortable. But she says not many people have shown any interest in me. They must be out having all the summer fun! That's ok, I know my forever family is out there somewhere! I'm still working on my walking manners, and my foster mom has a few tricks up her sleeve to help with that. She says I'd make a really great hunting dog! I still go into my kennel when my foster humans leave and when I eat, but I really don't need it. I'm happy to just lie on the couch until we're ready for our next adventure! We had some friends come to visit last weekend, and I was SO excited to meet them! Even they said what a good girl I am.
7/12/2025: Hi again, Buffie, checking in! I've been at my foster home for 6 weeks now, and I've settled into a great routine. I'm still working on getting my foster sisters to like me, and I think they're starting to come around! The best part of my day is cuddling with my humans or lying at their feet, chewing on my bone. I'm working on not pulling so much when we go on walks, but I just get so excited when I see those bunnies! Foster mom says I'm such a good girl because I don't jump up on the counters and I'm not at all destructive (except for those squeaker toys- I just can't help myself). I'm such a happy-go-lucky girl; I can't wait to find my forever people and give them so much love! Hugs and face kisses!
6/20/2025: Hi again, friends! I've been in my foster home for almost 3 weeks now, and I am getting so comfortable! Have I mentioned what a great cuddler I am? Snoozing in your lap (yes, I can fit) is my favorite, but I love just being next to you, too! I've been trying to get my foster sisters to play with me, but they're still a bit unsure. I know they'll come around eventually, and we'll be friends. We all get along great when we're playing with toys and getting treats (yum!). I don't mind being around other pups at all, but I prefer to have you all to myself! I love looking for birds and bunnies in the backyard. I probably would have been a great hunting dog! Walks are super fun too, but I get a little excited at first and can pull a bit too much. I guess I don't know my own strength. Foster mom is working on that, and I take redirection really well. If you're looking for a silly, lovable best friend that can snooze on the couch next to you but also go on lots of adventures (I am SO good in the car), then I'm your girl!
Hi friends, I'm Buffie! My face may show some age, but I've got lots of spunk! I was found as a stray, but I must have had a family because I have great manners and love people! The shelter I came from thinks I'm around 8 years old, but the vet guesses I could be 5-6. All I know is that I've got lots of energy and love to give! I'm settling into my foster home well and have already gotten pretty comfortable. I'm a huge cuddle bug and love to curl up in my foster mom's lap. I go into my kennel with no issues, but I do get a little sad when the humans leave. Did I mention how much I love to play ball? I'm an excellent retriever and will even give the ball a little push in your direction if it's too far for you to reach! I know my basic commands like 'sit', 'down', and 'lay'. Walks are my favorite too! I will pull a bit when we first get going, but only because I'm so excited for all the sniffs. Foster mom got me a harness that is helping with that. When I was in the shelter, I was able to go to play groups with other dogs and did very well, although I tend to prefer to play with male dogs over females. There are two other female dogs here in my foster home, and I get along with them for the most part, but it would be awesome if I had a home all to myself or with a male dog.
