Update (7/31/23)

Pupdate on Luca...

Well...Christmas in July has come and gone and I am still without a home. Now I am starting to take it personally. Is it my ears? Most people I come across say they are the cutest thing!!

My foster home is starting to pick up teeth I have lost around the house...it is like a scavenger hunt! There is a collection going in a cup as to how many I have lost.

Just a recap...I do great with other dogs, children, and everyone I see. I am getting much better at walking on a leash. My potty training is also going great.

I would love to spend Labor Day with my forever family...I just need someone to step up and give me the loving home I deserve to thrive into the beautiful well-mannered dog. Will you be that family?

Fill out an application if you are interested in meeting me.

Update (7/25/23)

Christmas in July!!!

And then there was one. Five of the six puppies that came into LEARN two months ago have already been adopted. That leaves only me. What is wrong with me? I have not even had a meet with a potential family!

I went to Oak Creek over the weekend for a dog event and was blown away by all of the positive comments I received by all of the people. They told me how cute I was, what a nice sit I had, how laid back I was (especially in that kind of situation where people and dogs were everywhere.)

Today (7/25/23) is the official Christmas in July. As you can see by my photos, I am ready for Santa. I am going to ask him for a family for Christmas. Would you be the early Christmas present I am looking for this year?

If you would like to be that lucky family, please let LEARN know so they can put you in contact with my foster family and we can get a meet time set up.

Update (7/10/23)

Hello to my Luca fans!

This past week has been a busy one for me! The Fourth of July brought fireworks and friends! I went to this past called the mall parking lot and stayed there for hours with new friends. I received many belly rubs and pats on my head. I walked around to get used to this thing called a leash, and there were even two shepherds there. They did kinda look like me, but we played together very nicely!! Once the main event was taking place...all I did was just lie down on the ground. I could have cared less that loud noises were going on around me.

Many other friends came over to the house during the week. I do get alittle jumpy when people come over, but we are working on that. I have been on many walks throughout the week...sometimes even twice in one day!! The walks have been significantly better the past few days, and I think I am getting the hang of it. I have a much higher sit percentage when my foster people stop when we are walking. You see, I have been taught to sit whenever my foster people stop at stop signs or before crossing the street. Sometimes my foster people stop for no reason, but my butt hits the ground and I look up at them, waiting for the cue to continue to walk. (my foster people went through the dog training for years, and now I get to reap the rewards from some great teachers)

I still play hard with my foster brother. I have energy that needs to be burned off, so the walks and playtime help that out daily.

You know the drill...if you want to meet me, all you have to do is be approved and we can set up a time to meet.

Don't know how to be approved, click on the link www.labadoption.org/info/adoption for further information and to start filling out the application.

Update (7/4/23)

Hello labbie lovers!

Checking in with my crew...it's been a week since my last update. I first wanted to wish everyone a happy 4th of July!! My foster people told me that this is the day we celebrate the birth of American independence. The land of the free and the home of the brave!!

This past week I went to a birthday party with 12 people (it was actually at the house I am staying at, but can you imagine 12 people in the same place...that might be overwhelming for someone like me, but I turned on my charm and even won the heart of one of the a celebrant's.) I just laid down for the duration of the party and some party-goers even rubbed my belly. That is something I love to receive.

I am still up for adoption. If you are approved, you can email labmatch@labadoption.org or if you have not applied yet, you can go to labadoption.org and fill out the paperwork.

Celebrate safe!!

Update (6/27/23)

Hello everyone!!
Hello everyone!!

Luca checking back in with my followers! It has been four weeks since I came into LEARN and no one has called about me! How can you look at my ears and not instantly fall in love with me?

I wanted to let you know that if you had any reservations about adopting me because I might not get along with other dogs, we’ll let me tell you a story. My foster people went on vacation and could not take me along…so they called another volunteer with LEARN and she graciously said yea to puppy-sit me and my foster brother. When I got to the house, let me tell you it was paradise!! The house had 7 other dogs living there and 8 cats!!! Can you imagine the love that was in the house?? I was in doggy heaven!! There were so many buddies to play with that I was wore out each night.

My foster parents said that since I was away from them for a week, my ears and legs grew taller. I don’t see it but I rarely see myself in the mirror each day.

If you would like to visit me for a potential match, go to  labadoption.org , fill out an application, have a home visit, be approved, and then email LEARN to get your name to my foster people for a time to meet. I’ll be waiting for you!!

Update (6/15/23)

Luca here giving you a pupdate on me.

I am 13 weeks old…can you believe it? I am a spry young man who wants to play. I currently live with a foster brother who I play with all the time. I love stuffed animals that squeak and the material that’s inside is like a treasure hunt. I am working on leash manners with a human or human child. Potty training is also something we are working on too. We go outside at set times so I do not potty in the house.

If you would like to know more about me, go to labadoption.org to inquire about me or to fill out an application. Don’t forget to check out the other pups that came in with me!

UPDATE!!! (1 week)

Here is my one week update since I came to LEARN.

My foster parents (people) say I am a very smart young boy. I am walking much better on a leash (I even sit when my people stop before crossing the road). I do still pull when I am in my harness because a collar is still too small for me. This potty-training thing is also getting better. I can go all night without an accident, but my people still set a timer to let me out a couple times an hour. I play like a puppy with my four-legged foster brother...I keep biting him under his belly, but he just flattens me out because he is much bigger then me. I am running after this thing called a tennis ball, but when I get to it, I just lay down. I do not "retrieve" it like a lab typically does. I love to take dog toys and chew on the tags. I also LOVE crinkley toys (toys that make a crinkle sound when played with). I would do well with another dog, but I am a dog that would also do great by myself and soak up all the attention!

You may be wondering...am I pure lab? Well...I am not. When I went to the vet, a customer came in and said I look like a shepard...with my pointy ears. My people tend to agree.

If you think I would make a great addition to your family, please have your application filled out and give let LEARN know you would like to meet me.
