Just checking in with an update on Odin, who is now 10 days post-neuter surgery and feeling fantastic! He has settled nicely into home life, and we've discovered he is truly the biggest, sweetest teddy bear you could ever hope to meet. He’s really warmed up to his human foster family, preferring their company more and more over his crate, which is a testament to the deep bond he is ready to form with his permanent family.

Weighing in at 75 lbs. (while he could gain a few more), Odin is a gentle giant who is docile and affectionate, with a special talent for cuddling. He’s a smart boy who is house-trained and well mannered—he responds reliably to basic commands. He is polite with all new encounters, showing an initial sweet shyness that quickly fades as he realizes you're a friend. He seldom barks unless he's inviting the neighborhood pups to a friendly chat.

Odin really enjoys walks and playdates! He plays wonderfully with others, adjusting his play style to match his companions' energy. This happy boy loves to run, chase, and show off his reliable recall. 

Odin is ready to share his big heart with a loving family. This sweet boy would love to be the loyal companion to a young person or adult who is, like Odin, equal parts active and able to relax. He’s looking for someone who enjoys outdoor recreation like hiking and camping, but values a cozy evening on the couch just as much! He would also thrive with a canine companion. He’s a big dog with a big heart, ready to offer unconditional love and dependable companionship.

My brother, Zeus, and I had difficult start in life, but that's all behind us now! After we were rescued, we spent the next month or so in a prison-based board and train program. From there, Zeus and I transitioned into the caring homes of L.E.A.R.N. volunteer foster families where we are thriving under the incredible kindness and dedication of humans who truly care about us. Who knew life could be this wonderful!

I'm likely a handsome Labrador/Great Pyrenees mix, and yes, I'm a big boy! They say I could use a few extra pounds, but my appetite is robust now—I absolutely relish meals and treats! My training is excellent; I have 'sit,' 'down,' and 'come' down pat. I'm a fantastic walking partner; I love a good "sniffari" to explore the world, but I'm just as happy to stay close by your side if you prefer.

Once I settled in with my new foster family, my sweet, true self emerged. I'm a gentle giant and a naturally calm observer. I might perk up at new sounds, but I quickly adapt. When meeting new people, I'm cautiously curious, never fearful. My favorite pastime is sitting or laying on the deck, peacefully scanning my surroundings and keeping the squirrels and rabbits in check!

I'm completely housebroken and crate trained. While I can use my crate, I much prefer to be close to my people and can be trusted to sleep soundly all night on a comfy dog bed near you. I enjoy a good chew bone, and I've been great about only chewing things that belong to me. I'm not a barker when visitors arrive; instead, I watch quietly for a signal from my humans that our guests are friends. When my foster humans leave, I do best when settled in my crate, as I can get a little sad, but I quickly settle down and rest until they return.

I'm currently an 'only child,' but I love a good play date! I happily engage with canine buddies who have good social skills and tend to politely ignore pups who don't know how to play well with others.

They tell me that, next week, I'm going to the vet's to get tutored! (LOL) After that, I'll be ready to find my furever home! Could you be my guide?!?

10/30/2025 – Odin and Zeus Have a Story to Tell

About a month ago, L.E.A.R.N. received an urgent call about a heartbreaking neglect case involving nineteen dogs used for breeding, living in filth and fear. The owners’ home was being condemned, and all the dogs needed safe places immediately.

Among them were two young brothers, Odin and Zeus—labeled “Labs,” about a year and a half old. We put out a desperate plea for fosters, and two amazing families stepped up. While waiting for placement, RR Professional Dog Training arranged for them to enter the Moose Lake Prison Training Program. Within a day, they were pulled from despair and delivered to safety.

After baths and gentle care, their beautiful coats and personalities began to shine. Maybe there’s a hint of Lab in them, maybe not—but what truly mattered was that they were safe, loved, and finally given a chance.

During their month in the prison program, their handlers taught them basic commands and helped them build confidence. The transformation has been remarkable—both boys are now trusting, gentle, and eager to please.

Odin and Zeus are now part of the L.E.A.R.N. family, experiencing warmth and kindness in their foster homes for the first time. They’re learning what it means to feel safe and loved, and we’ll continue to share updates as they blossom.

They may not be purebred Labs, but they’re 100% heart—and 100% deserving of forever homes. If you or someone you know could be their perfect match, please consider adopting or sharing their story.
