As many of you know, I recently had surgery to remove my eye due to an infection. I seemed to be healing well, but on Sunday I spiked a fever and had to make an unexpected trip to the ER vet. After lots of tests, the doctors found that my lymph nodes are swollen and suspect a possible fungal infection. We’re still waiting on the official test results, but in the meantime I’m already on treatment to help me fight it.
I spent most of the week in the ER receiving fluids, medications, and lots of TLC from the vet staff. Thanks to their care, I’m finally starting to feel better—and last night I was able to go home to my foster family to rest where I’m most comfortable.
There’s still a journey ahead, but I’m feeling stronger each day. Please keep me in your thoughts and send love—it truly lifts my spirits!
8/24/2025 Chiron (pronounced kai-ron) is 4-years-old with an unclear background. It is believed that his previous owner was incarcerated, and he was found tied to a fence. Upon examination by the vet at the shelter, it was noted that Chiron had an issue with his right eye, which was suspected to be an abscess behind the eye, possibly due to a previous injury. Before being transported to L.E.A.R.N., he received treatment with IV antibiotics and pain medication.
Chiron arrived on Friday, and by Saturday afternoon, his eye had a bloody discharge and it was evident that he was in extreme pain. His foster mom took him to the emergency vet, and after multiple diagnostic tests, it was determined that his eye was damaged beyond repair, resulting in loss of vision. The kindest option was to remove the eye to alleviate his pain. Foster mom can already tell, he is much more comfortable.
Despite his difficult past, Chiron is a very sweet boy who enjoys curling up next to his foster mom. He is reportedly good with dogs and has lived with a Python and a "Dragon," which might refer to a bearded dragon.
Chiron will need time to recover and will also be neutered. There is still more to learn about him, but we wanted to introduce him to our followers.
