3/5/15 Chubbs is still an 80lb sweetheart! He will be 9yrs old on March 24th. He loves to snuggle!!
Chubbs can be a little nervous sometimes. Very friendly with everyone he meets. He hasn't been around children yet. Still learning how to take a treat gently. Loves to go on his daily walks and does very well on a leash. He likes being outside in our fenced in yard. Sometimes he's a little hesitant to come back in the house but he will when we show him a treat! He always comes when we call him.
Chubbs isn't crated anymore, even when we are not home. He doesn't bother with anything in the house and gets along fine with our 2 older dogs. Not sure about cats. Much better at getting in the car. He just lays on the back seat or floor quietly. He's not a barker. We have only heard him bark a couple of times. One big WOOF when one of our other dogs is laying in the doorway to one of rooms he wants to go in :-)
His scar from the surgery has healed nicely and hair is just starting to grow back. Chubbs had his teeth cleaned yesterday. They didn't find any problems with his teeth or gums.
Chubbs will make someone a great companion!

2/3/15 Good news for Chubbs! The biopsy results on the mast cell tumor came back. The surgeon said its a very low grade 2 and clean margins. I don't know much about these tumors, but the Vet was happy with the results. Chubbs will see the Vet again on Monday and hopefully have the stitches taken out. Now his hair just needs to grow back :-)
He likes the snow, going for walks, and he's not afraid of the vacuum cleaner! He doesn't mind having his ears cleaned or being brushed. He's sooooo good!
Chubbs is still afraid of getting into cars. We have been working with him but still no luck. We are using treats while trying to use a ramp or just having him jump in. I tried getting in the car first and coaxing him in with treats. If we try to pick him up he will lie down on the ground. Today a man stopped to see if I needed help getting him in the car!

1/29/15 Chubbs (aka Moose) is our first foster dog. He's been with us for a week and is a VERY mellow & handsome 8yr old sweetheart! He's spent his entire life in an outside kennel with little human contact :-( until a good Samaritan intervened. :-)
Chubbs was neutered on Monday and also had a mast cell tumor removed.
He knows basic commands like sit, down (sometimes), come & paw. He's ok with our wooden floors. We have a ranch house so not sure about stairs. Haven't tried the basement stairs yet. He spent the first couple of nights in a crate. He didn't like it but did ok.
He doesn't bother with anything in the house. He's so good! He hasn't had any accidents in the house. He gets along great with our dogs. He has been good with everyone that has come over to visit. Haven't had him around kids yet, but I can't imagine there will be a problem except maybe his size! 86 lbs. I will have to borrow someone's kids to see how he does :-) We are trying to get him to lie on a dog bed but so far he prefers the floor. He doesn't like getting into a car; so we are working on that too. He loves to go for walks & does very well on the leash.
