Avaliable for Adoption ~ Ruger is from the Stop the Madness ~ Operation Peanuts Promise
2/24/15
Ruger has been neutered, he's UTD on all of his shots and is free of that nasty lungworm....He is doing well on his basic training, but will benefit from additional training. Potty training is going great, hasn't had any accidents in the house, and he does great in his crate. He usually settles within 15 minutes or so. His only real crazy time is when he first gets out of his crate after being in there for a few hours. He is just a typical puppy and ready to find his furever home!

1/24/15 Ruger is doing great! Still full of puppy energy! Loves all his toys and will fetch a ball or Holee Roller...and then proceed to play keep away... :) He tries to keep up with the "big dogs" out in the yard, and when he can't he just decides it's easier to "keep" the toy for himself...Kind of "struts" around the yard all proud of himself.
His potty training is going well...He will now go upstairs and sit at the top of the stairs when he needs to go out. Still working on getting him to let us know he needs to go out...All in time, he is just a puppy after all. He makes it all night in his crate and during the day without any accidents. He has mastered "sit" and "down". Now we are working on "stay". And the continuous, "off", "leave it"... He likes to steal our shoes by the door... It's a work in progress... :) Ruger is still on his medication for Lungworm and will be rechecked in a couple weeks. He will need to be neutered at that point and then should be ready for adoption to someone who understands all about "puppy craziness"... He's really a handsome guy (even with no tail) and a sweetheart. Some people have asked me if I think Ladybug and Ruger should be adopted together. They certainly could be, but I honestly don't think they need to be. I think they are just so connected because my two are older and don't pay much attention to them. They are both so young and playful; they just entertain each other. Ladybug will do fine with other dogs or as an only dog. I actually think she would eat up the individual attention. And Ruger will be ok either way also, if he gets too wild, he takes correction well from my older two and know when to back off. ~~~~~~~~
1/16/15 He is a bundle of puppy energy...21 lbs. and the vet estimates him to be a bit older than 4 months...My vet doesn't test for heart-worm until pups are at least 6 months old and although he said we could do a blood draw to test for tick borne diseases he thought that it would be ok to wait until he's tested for heart-worm. Now for the interesting part...worms... He tested positive for Giardia and Capillaira Aerophylilus... which in laymen terms is Lungworm...The course of treatment for that is also Panacur, put they are harder to get rid of and he will be on it for 3 weeks, and then a retest. Neutering won't be done until he's free of the worms.
As for personality...As I said, puppy, puppy, puppy...he won't have any lasting effects from his less than perfect start in life. He's "almost" mastered sit. Next up..."down" and the never ending, "no bite", "off", "leave it"... You get the picture... I will say, training him with Ladybug in the house will be a challenge, only because the firm NO you use with him frightens Ladybug if she is around, but we will figure it out.
