Karma is an 14 week old puppy and was born without her right eye, but she's never missed it and is proving to be a very smart, quick-learning little girl.

We had a scary setback several days after we
took her in and she spent 2 days at the Vet. We noticed that she was losing her spark, her appetite and then developed vomiting and diarrhea. She was becoming increasingly lethargic so we got her in at the first available appointment. She received IV's to rehydrate, an antibiotic and a bland diet to follow for a few days. After I picked her up , she quickly returned to her sweet, sassy self!

She's learning some manners and wants to please. She's such a good girl and will be an amazing companion for the right person/family.

While we don't know exactly what caused Karma's illness; my Vet and I both feel that the Vet treatments she received, before LEARN picked her up, were enough to overwhelm her already compromised system (3 kinds of worms!) and kick her little butt! Maybe she's an exception with her reaction, but we were afraid of losing her! I'm just happy that we realized that she was fading and that she recovered so quickly!

Karma is thriving! She is just over 15 lbs now and scarfing 3 cups of food a day! I have started basic obedience exercises and she's catching on quickly. She will be 15 weeks old in a few days and is doing very well with potty training.

She waits on command before she eats, as water is poured in the water bowl and before going outside. She has been learning doggy manners from her foster brother, Jack, a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Her lack of her right eye does not hold her back at all; she only misses a toss once in a while, but what puppy doesn't? She does like to play fetch for as long as her puppy short attention span allows.

She's a cuddler, a busy girl and very receptive to people loving her. We do love her but entered into fostering as an interim home for this sweet girl. Her new family will need to plan on some fun activities to give this little girl a career! She walks nicely on a leash and goes around the block without any hesitation. She loves to chew! We have given her Himalayan chews, and she gives them a good workout!

Because Karma is so young, her new family will have to sign a spay/neuter contract agreeing to have her spayed when she is old enough. That entails an ADDITIONAL $150 DEPOSIT, but once we receive verification from your Vet that she's been spayed, the $150 is refunded to you.

If you would like to meet/adopt Karma, please fill out an adoption application and have a home visit. http://www.labadoption.org/info/adoption – If you're already approved to adopt, please email LabMatch@labadoption.org and let them know you would like to be on Karma's potential family list.
