Hello Everyone!
I wanted to give everyone an update on little Macy. She is approximately 9 1/2 weeks, a little over 9 lbs and healthy! She had her first shots last week. The second round
is suggested later this month. She has been such a joy to foster. She is a good pup and for the most part, very smart. She was sitting by 4 weeks and by 6 weeks, she picked up sit, stay for food and wait for the release command to eat. She still hasn't fully gotten the potty bells yet, but we are still working with her on that.
I have not made her available for adoption just yet.
Macy will most definitely do best with another dog in the house.

I am happy to say that the little pup came home yesterday from staying with a Vet Tech last week! She's had a really rough start since coming t
o us at such a young age and weighing just over a pound. She now weighs 3.8 lbs and the Vet estimates her at around 4.5 weeks old. She is looking like a Lab pup versus a bear, but she was a really cute bear.
She will be tested again for Giardia to be sure it is gone! We have named her Macy, meaning "enduring", which this little one is. Her name Maddy given by the wonderful transporters was confusing for our dog Madeline, who some call Maddie.
I cannot thank the Richmond Vet Tech, Tina, enough!! Tina has raised pups as little as 1 day old so I knew Macy was in great hands with Tina!
It is so fun to see this little girl healthy and happy and being silly!!

11/23/14 Good morning everyone
It's been a bit of a crazy week with the puppy so I haven't had a chance to send out an official update to everyone. I want to start off by thanking everybody involved. I know for sure this pup would've died if we did not take her.
After a couple visits back-and-forth to the Vet, it was very clear this was not a four week old puppy we rescued. She probably was only about 18 maybe 21 days old when we rescued her. She weighed 1.14 pounds. It's been a bit of a struggle since she cannot be on solid foods just yet, and we're struggling with a mild case of Giardia, which is giving her loose and bloody stools. She easily dehydrates, which is why she spent some time with one of the wonderful Vet Techs from Richmond Vet. She went back again to the Vet yesterday to get fluids and spent the night with one of the Techs.
She doesn't take to the bottle that easily so I'm wondering just how little time she spent nursing on her mom. We've narrowed down a couple names for her, but since she hasn't spent so much time with us it's hard to pick just the right one for her. I'll send everyone another update in a few days. Hopefully she'll be back with us by tomorrow. Thanks again everyone!!

Macy isn't up for adoption yet as she is still going through her evaluation period as well as get her vetting done, but stay tuned for updates. Macy also needs to grow a bit before adoption.
