Labrador Retriever (short coat) : : Male (neutered) : : Young : : Small Learn more about the Labrador Retriever.
Rascal is from the Stop the Madness group – Operation Sunday Labs ~ Rascal is a 1 year old male He is such a snuggler. When he first came into our home he was a little jealous. When he was snuggling on the couch with his foster dad, and our dogs would come in and ask for attention, he started to growl at them. He quickly learned that wasn't acceptable behavior, and now he will actually get up and move to the other side of the couch when our guys come to hang out. He was also a little toy possessive, but now he tries to get our guys to take the toys from him. He's come a long way and is just a total love! 12/7/14 After 3 weeks to the day, I'm happy to say....Rascal has finally mastered SIT!!! He has been so stubborn with only this!!! So funny. He is so well-adjusted; it amazes me every day. We live in Chicago, with all of the traffic and noise that goes along with it. At first, he was a little nervous with the cars and noise, but after three or four days he was oblivious to it. He goes to the dog park every day and doesn't care that there is an EL train that goes by every few minutes...although he was excited to see the Santa train wiz by all decked out in lights. I haven't been able to attach any videos of him due to the size of the files, but he's pretty darn cute. I wonder if Miss Claudia is his mom because he also makes these really cute grunting noises and parades around with toys in his mouth when he's excited. He's up to about 34 pounds now, but he still looks thin. I don't know where he puts it, but he's a very good eater. He's a great little dog and one of our easiest fosters. Also, he has not had any accidents (knock wood) in the house at all. Although he hasn't learned to tell us he needs to go out, he really doesn't want to go out that much. He's not a marker. When he has to go, he goes, and then he's good for at least 6 hours. If we take him out before that he just wants to go back in the house. He loves to play ball and retrieves very well, although releasing it is another story. He pushes my guys around, which is hilarious, since he is a third their size. When I turned my back for a second this morning, he was eating Ollie's food while Ollie was trying to eat. Napoleon complex I think. All in all, he's a spunky little guy, and so far, has been a pretty easy foster.
He's also going down the bare wood stairs beautifully, but still not happy about going up them. I've been carrying him only because he was just neutered and I don't want him to strain too much but in a couple of days, no more carrying.
He really is a cutey.
