Update: I have found my forever home! :-) Thank you to everyone who expressed an interest in adopting me. It takes a special person to open their home to an 'experienced' dog. You guys rock!
Hi there, My name is Cody. My foster family says I'm as sweet as I am cute! I'm also a very, very good boy. I haven't had any accidents, don't lift my leg to mark, don't get on the furniture and don't get into anything I shouldn't. I'm on the smaller side, about 60 lbs. I'm pretty quiet, except when I'm getting ready to go on a walk or about to get fed. Then I do a little happy dance. I love going on walks, and when I'm wearing a harness, I walk very nicely. Sometimes, I like to choose the course, but I can be persuaded to go a different direction. When I get excited . . like when my foster family comes home, or when I'm about to go on a walk, I like to grab a shoe. I don't hurt it, but my foster family is teaching me to grab a toy instead. I'm a fast learner! I lived with my last family for ~ 8 years. They adopted me from a shelter and think I was a Hurricane Katrina survivor. My family loved me a lot, but my dad died from cancer about 6 years ago, and my mom now has Alzheimer's and is no longer able to care for me. My mom used to take me on 2 walks/day until one day she blacked out on our walk. I stayed by her side until someone noticed and brought help. Shortly after that, my mom's family called L.E.A.R.N. (She misses me a lot and hopes my adopters will send her updates.) After living with my family so long, it was a little frightening to be some place new, but my foster family is taking things slowly and say I'm adjusting very well. A neighbor's Lab spends afternoons with us. She's about my same age. She keeps trying to get me to play and is starting to have some success. She loves all the toys here, and I don't mind sharing. I guess I'm okay with cats, too, because where I used to live, I would stop by and visit one daily. I love getting petted by everyone, but I haven't been around young children very much. If you do the math, I'm about 10 - 11 years old, but the Vet had to be convinced because I sure don't look or act it. I'm in great shape .. no arthritis or any other ailments. Oh, one other cute thing you can't see in my picture, my tongue is black and pink mottled. The Vet said I might have a little Chow in me, but very little; I'm mostly Lab. If you're looking for a great buddy, please tell L.E.A.R.N. you'd like to meet me. More about CodyGood with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids, Good with Adults, Quiet
