>>01/17/14 ADOPTION PENDING <<

Hi Everyone,

12/14/13 Update

I'm surprised Charlie is still available. He has, as I said, settled in very nicely and is a wonderful companion dog. He is now not crated when I leave for a few hours a day.  I do put items up that I feel he may choose to take off a counter-mostly out of  boredom. He's not a Chewer/Barker/Runner :-) He IS a Tail Wagger/Love BUG/Cuddler, and he is a talker/mumbler which is quiet cute. :-)  He is just about done shedding the blonde, rough coat he came in with. He does LOVE his humans and wants to do nothing but please them and be involved with whatever you may be up to.

He is not real active, one good romp a day would maybe suit him just fine, BUT if your more active, he's game for that, too. He may be on the lower scale of Labbie activity, but he is definitely not a all day couch potato.

Please give L.E.A.R.N. a shout if you think Charlie would fit into your home.

11/16/13 Update. Charlie has settled in VERY nicely. We had a brief session with a trainer, and we have started some positive leash work with him, including clicker training. He is one smart dog. We have mastered sit (when he finishes wiggling his happy butt).  We are working on "touch" . . . it's a recall method where his nose touches the palm of my hand, when "touch" is said. He is a smart dog, and ONLY wants to please. He goes with me as much as I can take him; he loves to be with his human. He's learned words such as: out, go lie down..and many other words/commands. He had a few teeth pulled and came through that with with flying colors . . .his breath is much more pleasant. :-) His coat looks a lot better and is turning a nice dark chocolate. He is fine with my small dogs, but he has some reaction with bigger dogs, and we are sorting that out. I think kids would be ok, but he needs to learn to be happy with his mouth closed, still working on that.  He seems fine on a loose leash. I think he could easily train boundary lines. He definitely is not a barker.

10/20/13: Charlie's Foster Mom here, just wanted to give you a update on this Chocolate wiggle butt. He is doing awesome, and I have him completely housebroken. He has gained weight and is looking better. He goes in 10/21/13 for a dental.  He has a few teeth that need to be looked at and then cleaned. His coat needs works, but I think it's getting better. He LOVES people and may prefer to be the only dog. Although he is fine with my dogs, they just kinda hang out and don't cause much  ruckus.

Charlie here. I am a gorgeous, 4 yr old Chocolate Lab mix-100% wiggle butt-I am just loving life, and being part of a family-I love to give chocolate kisses, and follow you around. I have beautiful gold eyes . . . my foster mom says I am so handsome. A little about me, I was always a outside dog. My coat is a bit rough . . .as you can see from the pictures. it's bleached out. I am on a healthy diet of great, high protein dog food and putting on some weight. I am around 60 lbs right now. On the Labbie activity scale, I am maybe a 4 or 5.

I love my crate and go in it during the day & when I sleep at night. My foster family has been working on my house breaking and training. It was a bit slow going - but I think Ive got the hang of the potty thing now. I am learning to "sit", but I could benefit from a obedience class. I am not so sure what this toy thing is all about, but I am learning. I will chase the ball and pick it up, and carry it around in my mouth. I know my name and come when called in the fenced yard or house. I am very interested in the cat at the Vet's office, so not sure about cats. I get along with my foster brothers and sister . . . they are little dogs. I ride fine in the car. And I am ok on a leash.

If you are interested in meeting me and have filled out a application already-give the volunteers at L.E.A.R.N. a shout out. If you haven't filled out a application go to www.labadoption.org and fill one out and say your interested in "Charlie".

Oh, also, stop back for more pictures.  I tease Mom and don't stand still for pictures-she said she isn't giving up on snap shots.

Hugs and Labbie Kisses,

Charlie
