Update: Chippy does have laryngeal paralysis We took him to UW Vet for an exam. It is not severe, and he can live fine without surgery at this point. When he gets excited he has a hard time catching his breath. No issues with food or water intake.
We wanted to introduce you to our newest foster dog, chippy. Chippy is a 12-year-old chocolate male who came to us from a shelter in Wisconsin. He was owners surrendered to the shelter and was a stud dog for seven years. The reason they gave him up is because of a divorce and they had too many dogs. Chippy comes to us with arthritis in his joints and very overweight. We are going to work on his diet and get him into the vet to get up to date on all of his shots and medicine for his arthritis. He does great with our dogs and we were told cats as well. Also, just wanted you all to know the sad situation that LEARN deals with when bringing in dogs. The photos attached are from the collar that Chippy came with. I had to use some muscle just to unbuckle it. Then I turned it over. I believe this collar has not been off him or Chippy cleaned in at Lear 5 years. The collar has caked on dirt and when I took it off, the collar disintegrated and pieces fell off onto Chippy. We are happy to take on Chippy to give home a MUCH better life then he has had More about ChippyGood with Dogs, Good with Cats, Needs special care
