Hi all.

My name is Roscoe, and I was surrendered by my owner. Don't know why. . . I'm a good boy. My foster mom says that my original owner had a baby, and I became "inconvenient." I like babies so.....oh well. I guess I could tend to knock over a little one, though, cuz I'm pretty big and clumsy still. I'm only 11 months old for Pete's sake.  I'm a tall and lanky field Lab as you can probably see from my pictures.

I'm having a great time in my foster home with my two Chocolate Labbie brothers, Aengus and Ollie. Aengus is the alpha, and he tells me to mind my manners so I do what he says, but sometimes I can get him to play tug with me when I show him the rope toy. That's lots of fun. I also like to wrestle with Ollie when he's in the mood.

I came from Roscoe, Illinois, and now I am living in Roscoe Village, which is a neighborhood in Chicago. How's that for a coincidence?  I walk pretty well on the leash when my foster mom puts the gentle leader harness on me, but I like to pull a bit with just a neck collar. When I see you I pick up a rope toy (it's very important to have a toy in your mouth when greeting someone) and wiggle and waggle like crazy, and then I lick and lick and lick. Silly, I know, but I can't help it.  Sometimes I let out a bark when I see people or dogs walking on the street if I'm in the car, but my foster mom is working on that. I just get so excited, I want to go and say "hi."

I sleep very well on a nice soft doggie bed on the floor in the bedroom with my foster mom, dad and brothers. I don't make any noise until the alarm goes off in the morning. I don't complain at all when my foster mom goes to work in the morning and puts me in the crate. I always get a treat of some kibble before she leaves, and then it's me and the boys for a few hours. In the afternoon, we go to a dog park called Wiggly Field (it's right down the street from Wrigley Field), and I have so much fun. I get along with everyone, and all the dogs really like me cuz I'm pretty easy going. I get to play and chase balls. Did I tell you I looooove balls? All kinds of balls. I am a GREAT retriever! At the park, when my foster mom throws a ball, I run and bring it right back and drop it in front of her.  And then I do it all over again. I could do that for hours!  If I have a ball to play with, and no one else wants to play, I entertain myself. I throw it up in the air and pounce on it and run after it. Sometimes you just have to be self-sufficient.

At the park, they have this thing they call, an elevated train, that goes by. When it whooshes by, some of the dogs can be a little afraid of it, but the first time it went by, I just looked at it and thought "what the heck is that?" and then just went on playing. I don't let anything bother me. I figure, don't sweat the small stuff....so I don't. Well, that's about all from the north side...I'm off to find a ball.
