Hello everyone! You have NO idea how happy I am to meet you! My name is Vegas, although my foster family is thinking of changing my name to Vesper, because the day LEARN saved my life my prayers were answered. I am a young boy of 1 1/2 years, and I am sad to say that I've already spent one-third of my young life in a shelter. I had given up and stopped eating, but the good people of LEARN could see that I still had a sparkle in my beautiful green eyes. Well, I've now been with my foster family for a little over a week, and let me tell you--life is grand! One of the first things my foster parents did was to give me a lavendar and mint bath, which returned the luster to my chocolate coat, which is also regaining its beautiful waves. I now get to stretch out my long legs, running and playing everyday in the big fenced backyard with my foster Labbie siblings. I get along wonderfully with everyone here, but I do love to wrestle with the two biggest foster brothers, and when they tell me they've had enough, I respect them and go find someone else to pester. ;-) But after playtime, I settle down very nicely in the house.

Because of my long, long haul cooped up in a shelter kennel, my foster parents have not crated me here, and they are so impressed with how I do just great having free reign of the house with all my foster siblings day and night. I haven't gotten into anything I shouldn't, and I don't countersurf either. I'm also a quiet boy and don't bark, even when my yellow foster brother is barking his fool head off. I am very alert and curious, however, and like to check out what is going on.

There are so many wonderful things in this world: butterflies, tennis balls, squirrels, Nylabones, bolster beds, my foster mom's feather pillow, my foster dad's slipper--oh, and food!! You should know that I am now eating like a champ! And I sit and wait patiently until all of my foster siblings are served first. My foster parents continue to tell me how impressed they are with my poise. They think I inherited the best traits of both breeds, which is such a nice thing for them to say. (I think I am blushing.) My foster mom also tells me that she can just see me excelling at something called "agility" because I run like the wind!

Please forgive me for such a long note, but I have been praying for this chance for a happy life for so long! I hope we can meet soon.

Happy, grateful kisses!
