My name is Jessie.  I am 10 years old and enjoy moderate activity and love interaction.  I enjoy playing with balls and short walks, but mostly having my belly rubbed is best.  My tail is always wagging in joy whether I'm walking, eating, drinking or just laying around.  My foster parents find that I'm pretty easy as I'll lie around a lot, but if you walk near me, I'll take the opportunity to roll on my back to show you my belly hoping for a rub.   I really love to be loved, and I'm a sweetheart in return.

I actually have quite the history.  Originally I was a hunting dog, but at 5 1/2 I was surrendered to L.E.A.R.N. by my original owner because I was no longer able to hunt due to an injury.  I had torn tendons in my back knees.  I had surgery while with L.E.A.R.N. and was back on the right track.  Then, I was adopted in 2011 by a wonderful woman, but she unfortunately passed away very unexpectedly.  I was cared for by her friends for awhile, but then they thought it was best that I be returned to L.E.A.R.N. so that I can, again, find the perfect home.

I am currently staying at a home with a passive dog which fits well for me, but I'm not so fond of cats.  I understand basic commands and can stay nicely outside for a while until someone walks by, then I like to bark and get their attention.   I was crate-trained at one time, but my foster family doesn't crate me.  I sleep freely in the house, which I do well and sleep through the night.   

In the kitchen I discovered that if I reach far enough on a counter I can get a loaf of bread! Not so good for me.  So my next family will need to keep all the goodies far from my reach.   Eating is another one of my passions.  Having a specific measured amount of food for my meals will really help my figure.  Did you say "treat"?

Although I am a slightly older dog, I have a lot of life and love to give.  So if you have it in your heart please consider meeting me, and we'll see if we make a good match.
