Hello! My name is Willy. I am a big, lovable, 5 year old bear that will make someone an outstanding companion dog. I have very good manners and always want to be doing whatever it is you want to be doing. I love to go for walks, have a blast wrestling with my foster brothers, love to give kisses,
do not jump on people, do great with kids,
ride well in the car, and have no fear of the vacuum cleaner, lawn tractors or other lou
d noises.
I am great on the leash and when we go for hikes in the woods I do great off leash staying close and checking in often. I love to run and play in the yard and have shown no signs of desiring to skip. Oh, and cats are great to chase if they run, but I promise not to chase them if you tell me not to.
This is my second time with LEARN. My first time, three years ago, I was found as a stray and taken to the Humane Society who connected me up with LEARN. I was a bit on the skinny side (64 lbs) but soon became a lean, mean, playing machine. I went to live with a wonderful family who sadly due to family circumstances had to reconnect me back with LEARN. This time I returned a bit on the heavy side (101 lbs) but am doing awesome on my new diet and exercise program! My foster mom (same foster mom both times) says once I get down to my correct weight, I should be about 75-80 pounds and be a medium energy dog.
I am crate-trained but prefer not to spend time in a closed crate. I behave myself if left uncrated at night or during the day when everyone is away. I don't chew anything if it isn't mine but admit to having a stuffed animal fetish. I consider ALL stuffed animals to be mine and will promptly disembowel them; yes that includes that cute teddy bear in the kids room!! I’ve had no accidents in the house, I don't counter surf, and I’ve not gotten into any garbage though admittedly the kitchen garbage is tucked away. Rats!
I know how to sit and lie down, but I do rush through doors and bark when first left alone. From my days as a stray, I still have a fear of people’s hands moving too quickly near my head and a fear of some men, but my foster mom is helping me with this. Though I’m not fond of this game called fetch, you can always count on me to be up for a great walk!
