11/11/25 Hi everyone! I'm Tess, an 11 month old female black Lab who came from Louisiana after I was found running stray. At only 43 pounds my foster mom says I'm a "pocket lab". I've got all the great Labrador characteristics, just in a smaller package. I've only been in Wisconsin for a few days, but I've settled into my foster home very quickly. I'm a sweet, happy, go-with-the-flow kind of girl. If you're relaxing I'll lay on the floor near you, but if you're up doing things I'll gladly tag-along. I rolled over on my back when I met my foster sisters and after a few seconds of sniffing each other we were off to the races playing chase and sharing toys. I love to play with them, but I listen when they tell me I'm being too rambunctious. I'm not living with any cats right now, so I'm not sure how I would react to one. I do like to chase squirrels in the yard though. I walk well on leash with a no-pull harness. I sleep through the night in my crate without making a sound. I had a couple accidents on my first day at my foster home, but I'm doing much better now that I know where the door is and I'm getting on a schedule. I know what it means when you tell me to "go potty." I do jump when I get excited, but if you put your knee up and say "off" I'll stop. I know "sit" and am working on sitting before I go through doors and before I get my meals. My other typical lab puppy habit is shredding toys, but I can easily be redirected to a different toy when my foster parents take away the one I'm shredding. I love to chew, so I'll need lots of sturdy toys. Speaking of things I love... I LOOOVE to eat! I get so excited at meal time. I eat from a slow feeder bowl and prance in circles around the bowl while I try to get the kibble out of the tracks. Even though I get three square meals, I do still occasionally cruise the kitchen counter or the trash can for more snacks. I listen when foster mom and dad tell me "off" or "leave it." Overall I'm quite the catch! I'm a smart girl who is quick to learn new things. With a little polishing of my manners I'll be a perfect companion. I'd love to go to puppy training classes with you. I'd be good at agility or nose games, too. I love to run, so a fenced yard would be great. Another dog friend to play with would be awesome, but I'd also do well as an only dog. I'll be back with more updates, but in the meantime get your application in if you think I might be a good fit for you!
