*****MEDICAL HOLD***** November 11, 2025 Hope is doing wonderful. Her first Heartworm treatment was in September, followed by her final treatment in October. The final treatment consists of an injection within 24 hours for 2 consecutive days. The injections are given in the muscle along the spine, painful. Preventative monthly is the key, so no dog has to go through this. Treatment is then followed by leash walking and crate rest. The dog needs to stay calm. Hope has been an excellent patient. Her general calm nature has made it easy to keep her restrained. She is so easy to leash walk, even when her foster mom has to use a cane. Hope's body composition has changed so much, she is so much healthier than when she came into rescue. She is holding steady at 52 pounds. She still LOVES eating times, that's when she is the most excitable. That is somewhat controlled by eating in her crate and her slow feeder bowl. I thought this Southern Belle would be more surprised by the snow, but no big deal to her. Hope's next challenge is her leg surgery in December. Keep those well wishes and prayers coming. We are all excited for her to finally get relief from her pain. August 29, 2025 Hope has been in foster 3 weeks now. Her body composition continues to improve. Hope had only been in foster a few days when 2 more dogs joined the pack for a week, making a total of 6 big dogs. She did fabulously and gets along well with all dogs. She also ignores the family cat. She is still in starvation mode when she eats, so she has a slow feeder. She does well in a crate and willingly goes in. Once she starts her heartworm treatment, which will be in a couple weeks, she will need to be kept quiet. In general, she is a quiet, calm dog in the house. She likes to be close to her person. She learned to find her place (dog bed) while foster mom is cooking. You can only have so many cooks in the kitchen. Hope is adjusting so well and is so sweet. Her mobility is amazing knowing how injured her leg is. Once we can put the heartworm treatment behind her, she will be ready to fix her leg. Send us your prayers and good vibes as Hope progresses through her medical treatments. She is soooo deserving. August 8, 2025 Meet Hope!
