Update on Sam First, a big thank you to everyone who donated, shared, and cheered Sam on - we are so grateful for your love and support! Sam had his surgery on Thursday, August 14th, and the vet told us he was a very brave boy. He was not impressed with the “cone of shame” at first—lots of side-eye and dramatic sighs—but he’s now wearing it like it’s the latest fashion trend. He is handling his recovery like a champ, and happy to share that he is already feeling more like himself. We received the pathology results from the mast cell tumor, and it shows the the whole tumor was removed and his prognosis is favorable! Please keep the good vibes coming for our sweet cone-headed warrior!
Hi friends,
We’re reaching out on behalf of our sweet foster dog, Sam, who recently came into our care. While settling into his foster home, we discovered a mast cell tumor that will need to be removed. Our vet has confirmed that surgery is the best course of action to give Sam the healthy, happy life he deserves.
Unfortunately, the cost of the procedure — including pre-op blood work, anesthesia, surgery, and recovery care — is estimated at $1,500-$1,800. As a small foster-based rescue, we rely entirely on donations, and any help is greatly appreciated.
Sam is a gentle, loving soul and greets every day with a wagging tail and a hopeful heart. Let’s show him what a community of animal lovers can do.
Every dollar helps. If you’re able, please consider donating or sharing this fundraiser. Your support means the world — not just to us, but to Sam, who deserves a second chance at comfort and health.
Thank you very much for your support.
Hi everyone, I’m Sam, a 7-year-old neutered male Lab mix weighing in at 89 pounds. I'm currently living with my foster mom, a doggy foster sister, and a cat foster brother while I wait patiently for my forever family to find me. I get along good with my foster sister, but I am still getting to know my foster brother, he keeps running from me and then I want to chase him but when he sits still, I just sniff him and then he swats at me and sometimes I back away.
I have a calm, easygoing spirit and truly enjoy just relaxing around the house, occasionally I get a little pep in my step, but I am mostly chill. I'm not a chewer — I only have eyes for my favorite toys, Froggy and my trusty Kong, which I love to carry with me wherever I go. I’ll occasionally play fetch, but I’m still learning the “drop it” part — tug-of-war, though? I’m a champion! I have great manners: I don’t jump on people when they walk in, and I usually stay off the furniture unless I’m invited up for some cuddle time. I'm a great housemate.
I’m also a bit of a neighborhood watch dog — I might bark to let you know when someone’s passing by or when I hear the neighbor dogs chatting, but I’m just saying hi in my own way. I love daily walks with my foster mom! I’m still working on not zig-zagging and getting too excited near home, but I’m improving every day. I do get a little vocal when I see people and other dogs — I just want to greet everyone!
Car rides are fun for me, and I like looking around and making new friends from the backseat (vocally).
My foster mom and I are still learning how to signal potty time, so when my foster sister goes, I go too, just to be safe – no accidents in the house thus far.
I already know sit, shake, wait, and down, but only mastered “sit”! I’m still polishing up the rest with help from my foster mom.
The crate? Not my favorite place, especially when the crate door is closed, but I’ve made a great agreement with my foster mom: I get to hang out in the cozy home office with my crate nearby and the office door closed. It’s my safe little space. With time, love, and patience, I hope to become your loyal companion — happiest by your side, always learning and growing with you. If you're looking for a faithful friend, I just might be the perfect match. |
