Rowdy Update (8/7/2025)

Dear family!  It's me, your soon-to-be chaos muffin.

I've been in my foster home for ALMOST FOUR WEEKS - which is like 87 years in dog days, and guess what? I. Am. Crushing. It.

I still have Big Zoom Energy, especially if there is another dog around.  I run, I wrestle. I wiggle. I am way better at knowing when to chill. I'm learning that couches are for snuggling, not parkour. My foster mom says I can be "a lot," but also, "kind of hilarious," which I think means I'm perfect.

I'm a crate pro and sleep all night like a furry (snoring) little angel. I can also be kenneled when you're not home - I might sigh dramatically about it, but I am safe and quiet there.

Also, fully potty trained - zero indoor puddles (or piles).  I go where I'm supposed to like a grown-up.  Thank you.

I'm learning so many things!  Like "sit," "no," "not yours" and "off the (table/counter) please."  I try really hard, especially when snacks are involved.  Snacks are my love language.

I LOVE other dogs.  Like, LOVE love.  Sometimes too much.  It your dog likes naps and personal space?  I might be...a bit too much.  But if they like to party and you like to play referee (cool whistle anyone)?  LET'S GOOOOO.

Also? I am super affectionate and kind of a velcro dog (in the cutest way possible).  If you sit, I can be in your lap before you have a chance to say "good dog."  If you walk toward the fridge, I teleport.  I am now part of your shadow.

Leash? Yeah okay, I may think we're in a sled race.  But we're working on it! I am pulling less.  (Mostly. Sometimes).

I went to the vet.  I'm healthy, gaining weight, and my tail is in excellent wagging condition.

I can entertain myself with toys (especially the ones that squeak like dying mice), but honestly?  Life is better when I am doing stuff with you.

So yeah - I'm silly, sweet, slightly chaotic, and very available for adoption.  If you want a dog who's equal parts cuddlebug, cartoon character and trail buddy...I volunteer as tribute.

Sincerely,

Rowdy

Rowdy Update (7/23/2025)

Hi everyone! I've been in my foster home for just one week, and I'm already making big progress.  Here's what you should know about me:

  • I'm high energy.  I love to run, play and stay active.
  • I'm learning the rules - boundaries and routines are still new, but I am figuring them out fast.
  • The longer I am here, the calmer I get.  I don't need to play constantly anymore.
  • I get extra excited with another dog around - a new buddy really gets me going! If you don't want that extra excitement and energy, I would probably do best as an "only."
  • I do pull on the leash, but my foster family has a great temporary trick their vet shared.  My new leash is on the way!
  • I need regular exercise - it helps me settle down and, honestly, it helps me poop so I don't go in the house.  I've had two accidents, but that's not bad considering I'm adjusting to a new space, new food, new treats, and lots of extra calories.
  • I had a full vet check and my labs look great - I am healthy and thriving.
  • And yes, I love lounging on the furniture - soft couches and comfy spots are my thing.

Everything you read in my first update is still true.  I AM a Velcro dog.  I DO love snuggles.  I BELIEVE I am a lap dog.  Best of all, I am full of love and full of life.  I know the rules and routines at my foster home will be different from yours (in some cases).  But if you are willing to help me learn to live with you I know I will reward you with sloppy kisses and true unconditional companionship.

July 21, 2025

Hi! I'm Rowdy, a 2-to-3-year-old chocolate Lab mix with a big heart, a goofy streak, and a serious lap-dog complex (yes, I will try to fit in your lap, no matter how big I get).

When I came into rescue, I was severely malnourished - but thanks to love, good meals and a second chance, I'm thriving.  My vet says I still have about 10 pounds to gain to reach my healthy weight, and I'm doing great!  You would think that I might engage in resource guarding, but I do not at all.  My foster brother (dog) can come over and eat out of the same bowl with me.  I don't mind.

I'm playful, affectionate and FULL of life.  I love other dogs, though my energy can be a bit much for more mellow or shy pups.  I'd do best with a confident, playful companion - or as your one-and-only adventure buddy.

I'm a classic Velcro dog - always underfoot, happiest when near my people, and frequently found sitting patiently by the pantry, because that's where the dog treats live (yes, I know).  When it's time to relax, I can settle down on my own and happily entertain myself with a stuffed toy or chew.

I am fully potty trained, even overnight in my crate.  I know basic manners and am learning more each day.  I walk well with a harness after my initial excitement settles.  I am food motivated and eager to learn - especially if it involves anything from the pantry.

I'd love a home that offers an active lifestyle (walks, playtime, hikes).  A confident, playful dog friend OR person who's home often.  A home with room for snuggles, structure and lots of belly rubs.  Bonus points it you have a treat drawer or pantry I can respectfully monitor.

You will love me because I am goofy, sweet, loyal, and full of heart.  I've come a long way from where I started and can't wait to share my love with someone special.  If you're looking for a snuggly sidekick who will follow you everywhere - especially into the kitchen - I'm your guy.
