2/20/21 ~ Hi Everyone! Scarlett checking in! I saw the vet this week and got a clean bill of health. Doc says my skin is looking great! I may never win any beauty pageants, but it’s healthy. Foster mom says now it’s time to find my furever home!
Not long ago, I was a “wild child” running free on the streets of Texas and now I’m learning so much! I love treats and will do just about anything for them. But, one good thing is I have stopped counter surfing. Foster mom says she thinks maybe it’s because I know I’m going to be fed and don’t have to “search” for my next meal anymore. That sure is nice. I like regular meals.
I’m still cautious with new people, and I take time to warm up, but once I trust you, I’m happy to curl up at your feet on the couch. I crate well, but like to have a friend near me, so if you have another younger dog, that would be great too, because I also love to play and wrestle.
Because of my “street smarts” foster mom says I must have a fence, and it needs to be a tall one, because she is afraid I may climb something shorter. She also says that I will need to be watched closely out in the yard, until I learn to trust my new people, to make sure I won’t want to “escape” and go back to my wild days.
Foster mom did something called a video, of all the fun stuff I’m learning, to show me off. I have also mastered “wait” for my meal too. I do drool a lot while I’m waiting though.

2/13/21 ~ It’s me again, sassy Scarlett!  Foster mom says that now that my puppies are all adopted, MY puppy sass is starting to come through more and more. I love anything with stuffing that I can pull out and I like to chew on things that I am not supposed to, like shoes.  I am probably closer to 1 year old based on all the things that I am doing. But my sassy times are only part of me, I love to play with the other dogs in the house, and climb on the couch and snuggle in for some love.  I crate well but will whine/cry for a while if left alone but I am quiet if I have a friend.  I know sit and down and I'm working on "wait" for my dinner. I am very food motivated and take treats very gently so learning more will come quickly/easily. I ignore the household cat and will bark to let you know if there is something happening outside I think you should know about. I'm also potty trained!

Foster mom has come up with a list of my "must haves' for my forever home:

5 foot Privacy fence (or higher) to ensure my safety,  No  chain link, invisible or tie outs  in my forever home.

Another dog or someone that is home more often than not

Someone willing to take the time to earn my trust

My skin infection is getting better with each passing day and my hair is coming in nicely, but I still need a little more time to fully recover.  I may never have a perfect coat but its so much better than it was!

1/20/21 ~ Hello, Scarlett here. I wanted to let you know more about me. I am a fantastic mom but that isn’t all I am! I have a sweetness about me that will melt your heart. I am cautious with new people and situations but I am gaining more confidence with each new day and interaction.

I am really starting to come out of my shell and showing my true personality. I have learned to sit and I am working on laying down. I will get there, especially if you have food. I LOVE food and I am willing to do just about anything for it. That includes counter surfing and literally going onto the table to see what may be up there. Yep! You read that right, I was on the kitchen table looking to see what was up there. Foster mom says I shouldn’t be up there and that my food is in my bowl but I have seen good things on the table and wanted to see if there was more for me to sample.
My kids may be named after super hero’s but I have a superpower too!!! I can jump a 4 foot gate!!! I hide this talent so well that no one has actually seen me do it but I have appeared on the other side of a gate when someone’s back was turned. I don’t see this as a bad thing. I think this makes me special and that I would like to learn how to use my superpower for good. Maybe agility, doc diving or something else that could focus on my unique ability. Foster mom also says because of this I should find a forever home that has a nice high fence to keep me safe, she’s such a party pooper!
I am not quite ready for my forever home yet, I still have to teach my kids some manners and set aside time with a doctor to prevent me from having more kids ever again. I also have something called mange and itchy skin, so foster mom is working on getting that cleared up. She gives me nice soothing oatmeal baths and puts lotion on my skin too.
I will be ready soon for that very special family that will love and care for me forever. Will that be you???

12/24/20 ~ Scarlett checking in! I had 10 beautiful babies on December 8th and I've been very busy taking care of them. Foster mom says I sure am sweet, and an amazing mom. Foster mom says I'm all done having babies and once I'm spayed and my skin issues are cleared up, (I have demodex mange) I'll be able to find a family of my own to love me in February! Can't wait!

12/5/20 ~ ON HOLD ~

Scarlett had been a stray in Texas for two years and the good samaritan that was feeding her was finally able to catch her.

Turns out she’s very pregnant!
With the help of amazing volunteers at Pets Going Places and LEARN, she went from a shelter in Texas to a warm home in Wisconsin in 4 days.

Scarlett saw the vet today and they think she has at least 10 pups, possibly more, coming in the next few days. Please pray for a smooth delivery and healthy pups for her.

As you can imagine, raising a litter of 10 puppies is going to be quite costly. If you can find it in your hearts to donate for the cause, it would be a wonderful Christmas present to both Scarlett, her puppies and LEARN.
