7/11/14 Fig Update - 6-1/2 months old

  • Loves to swim
  • Rides extremely well in the car
  • Walks fantastic on the leash
  • Knows her name, sit, down, kennel, and no
  • Goes in the kennel with ease
  • Stays in the kennel with no crying or messes. We’ve had her in there up to 8 hours.
  • Sits and waits for her foster animal friends to get fed before her
  • Bugs the cat and is curious but listens when we tell her to stop
  • Gets along with male and female adults. She hasn’t met any kids yet
  • Loves socializing with other dogs
  • Knows to stay off of furniture
  • Gets her #1 and #2 done quickly when let outside
  • Not afraid of loud noises- lawn mower, weedwacker, thunderstorms
  • Potty trained except for a small amount of submissive urinating

Continuing to work on mouthing and submissive urinating with Fig. The submissive urinating has become less and less as we’ve grown her confidence and have changed the way that we act around her. We are at about 90% success rate. Hoping to be near 100% by the end of this week. I think that the adoptive parents will have to go through this with her again as they learn how to act around her- but it’s great to know that we can correct it.

The mouthing definitely has to do with anxiety. As her confidence builds and anxiety levels go down we’re seeing less of this. It’s all been a work in progress, but we have seen so much PROGRESS! Hoping to get her to her forever home soon. She would make a great dog for anyone.

6/14/2020  NEW INTAKE!

Fig! 5-1/5 month old Lab mix. Sister to Olive. So far she is doing great! Slept a like a champ on the ride home. She’s met our cat and dog, AND our sheep. Coming out of her shell nicely already. Big paws on this one!
