3/17/19 Adoption pending!!! I had my 6 week follow up appointment and I got some good news! The procedure I had was a success! My ureter and kidney looks good and they don't see any issues with them. But the other side may have trouble in the future so I have to get another check up in 3-6 months to see if the other side needs to have the same procedure done. But the family that is adopting me is ok with that and loves me anyways. I want to thank everyone that has donated towards my care and shown interest in adopting me. I wish there were more of me so everyone was happy but there is only one Ellie!
2/27/19 Ellie Checking in...I don't go back to the doctor till mid-March for my check up, but so far, so good. No dribbles!! I guess then I can start looking for my furever home! Can't wait!!
2/8/19 Good Day! Ellie here, I wanted to give you all an update on me. I went to the UW Vet School earlier this week where I had an ultrasound and some other test and guess what? As suspected, I had an ectopic ureter. They discovered that one of my ureters went into the bladder like it should, but the other one completely bypassed the bladder and went directly to the urethra. So that explains why I dribbled all the time. They did a cool laser treatment on me (The very first at the UW! Apparently, I'm a bit of a celebrity now! : ) and they think they fixed the problem. We won’t know for sure for a week or two, but so far so good; no dribbles! I have a follow-up appointment in six weeks, and then we will see if I am ready for adoption, or if there is something else that we need to do. I will update you again when I know more in a couple weeks! Until then, I am still on hold, but keep me in mind if you are a hunter and looking for a new companion. OH! I'm told my medical expenses are pretty high, but of course, I'm worth it... If you have a few dollars to spare to help L.E.A.R.N with my treatment, that would be really groovy!! THANKS!
Hello! My name is Ellie, and I am a BEAUTIFUL girl. That's what people say all the time, so it must me true! I am 1 year old and whistle-trained for hunting. I am a quiet girl who just wants to run and play, but I am also happy to curl up with you or on my bed and take a nap. So I bet you are wondering why I am here if everything about me is so great. Well, I have an issue of incontinence, and we aren't 100% sure why yet. (I wear a diaper during the day and over night and don't complain. I don't realize that other dogs don't do this.) The family who had me before wasn't able to continue with testing or treatment so I came to L.E.A.R.N. After talking with a couple Vets we think I have what is called an Ectopic Ureter, basically my urine isn't going into my bladder like it should and as a result, leaking out. So we are off to the UW Veterinary Clinic in early February to get more testing done to see if they are able to reroute everything to go where it should. Paws crossed they are able to which will make me ready to find my next hunting partner. This is a very expensive condition to diagnose and repair. So if you are able to help with a donation, L.E.A.R.N. and I would really appreciate it. :-) I will update you again when I have more information to share. Thanks for your well wishes and any help you can give.
