2/11/19:  Hi Everyone! Mila checking in. I've finished my Board and Train, and I'm told I know my basic commands and do really well for treats or praise.

Foster mom tells me I'm a sweet girl.  Even though my vision is impaired, I love to run around and play. I also like to spend time lounging around on my dog bed. I've discovered these things called toys and will play with them now and then when the mood strikes. 

I'm doing really well navigating in the house now that I've learned  my surroundings. I will probably do best in a home with older children and no cats. (I'm doing much better with cats, but I am still interested in the furry things.) I have no problem with any dogs. I pretty much just ignore them. I would sure love to find my furever home.  I have something called diabetes.  So, I need someone who is ok giving me a shot twice a day, but I am a good girl about it, doesn't bother me at all.

1/18/2019:  Hello Everyone!   I wanted to let you know that I am still here and that I am about a week into Board and Train.  I am learning how to navigate life as a dog who has impaired vision.  I am learning basic commands as well as control of myself when food is around. (Did you know you aren't just supposed to go for it?!)  I am also learning to walk on a leash without pulling and verbal commands for other things that a fully-sighted dog would take for granted. 

I am only 5; so I have many years of love left to give.  I would love to find my forever home with someone who will help me take on the world!  I am looking for someone who isn't afraid of a needle (it pokes me, not you!) and can give me eye drops.  That is all I need! I love toys and snuggling with my person.  I will follow you where ever you want to go, I just like to be close to you.   Do you think you could be my person???    If so, please contact L.E.A.R.N., and ask to meet me!

11/30/18: Hi! It's me, Mila, again!  Guess what? I went to the eye doctor, and the proteins around my cataracts have dissolved, so I have some vision! There is even a chance that I may gain all of my vision back! That means no surgery for me! I will always be on insulin, and I have eye drops that I use daily.

I am looking for my forever home now! I love attention...being petted, laying next to someone, and I give great kisses! Could you be the one for me?

11/23/18 ~~  Hi! Mila here! I’ve been with L.E.A.R.N. since May. I have diabetes which has affected my vision, so my foster mom says that makes me a very special case. During the past few months, my foster family has been working with an Internal Medicine Vet and an Eye Specialist to get my glucose, triglycerides, and cholesterol in line so that I can have surgery to correct my vision. 

The good news is that I have FINALLY gotten the all clear to have my surgery! I am scheduled to have it on December 6th. If all goes well, I should be able to start looking for my forever home shortly after that!!

My foster mom and I, as well as everyone at L.E.A.R.N. can't wait to see me run and play fetch when I can see again!!
