6/8/18, I am enjoying the spring time playing in the pools and rolling in the grass.  I am still shedding, but I think that is okay.  Now that I have so much fur, I can spare some.  :)

4/23/2018, Just wanted to give a quick update, I had my spa day at the Vet, my teeth are clean, and I didn't have any that needed to be removed.  I had 5 skin tags and an abscess removed from my neck.  The new picture of me in the car is on the way home.  Do you see how the fur I have now is so shiny!  Also, if you look closely at my back leg you will see that I have so much fur now that I am actually shedding!!!

Please ask to meet me, I am such a great boy who will give you 10 fold of love and companionship.  All I ask for are belly rubs in exchange.  :)

4/17/18, Good Day!  I am still here looking for my forever home.  I wanted to give you all an update on me.  I am currently down to 1/2 an Apoquel each day, and I seem to be doing okay on that dosage. Maybe in a few weeks we will see what happens when I am off it completely!  Next Monday I am going to the Vet, and they are going to remove a couple ugly bumps and skin tags and give my teeth a good cleaning.  Then when I come give you a hug you can see my pearly whites too!  I am a super special guy who will give you nothing but love. I love to play fetch, go for walks and cuddle.  Could you be my forever home?

3/5/18, Hello Everyone!  I wanted to let you all know that I am about ready to start meeting families who would like to be my forever home!  My hair is still patchy and some areas may never grow back, but my personality makes up for it!  (I may never win a beauty contest for best coat, but the hair I do have is super soft.) I will have some needs going forward, but if I continue with them, I will be happy and healthy the rest of my life.

First and most importantly, NO grains or potatoes in my diet.  (I am currently eating Zignature salmon dry food.)

2nd - I am on an allergy medication called Apoquel.  Since starting it I have really stopped itching all together.  (Steroids and Benadryl were not enough and didn't really help at all.)

3rd - I get fish oil with each meal to help with my skin. Goat's milk has also really made a difference in my hair growth. (I am growing white ones!)

I am finally living the life that I should have all along and want to share the rest of my life in a home that will love and care for me. Is that you??  If you want to meet me and learn more about me, please reach out to LEARN.

=====================================================================

Update!  I know it might not look like much to you, but I am doing WAY better!  My skin is softening up, and I am growing hair!  I may still may never have a "normal" coat, but compared to where I was, this is a HUGE improvement.  My skin isn't red, and I don't itch nearly as much.  I can actually sleep without waking up to scratch.  My personality is really coming out, too, and I am so happy and sweet.  If you sit on the floor I will come up and give you a hug.  I know its kinda naughty, but I can't help myself; I just love everyone!

I'm still not ready for my forever home, but I just wanted to let you all know how I am doing and that I really appreciated the donations made to LEARN to help me.  My treatments aren't cheap, but they are WORKING!!!!!

Thank you again!

Love, Hairy

Hello; my name is Hairy Houdini (get it? my hair disappeared?!?!). And boy did I get a Christmas Miracle!  I was found as a stray on the side of the road in Illinois.  The first Vet I saw said that there was no hope for me and to put me down, but the people didn't listen and called LEARN!

I came in with almost no hair on my body other than on my head.  My skin is almost a callus, and I itch ALL THE TIME!!!   Since being in LEARN, I have been to a different Vet who said that we can for sure get me feeling better, but we don't know how much, if any, hair will grow back.  I am already doing better.  I still itch, but not like I did before.  I wear a jacket a lot of the time since it's so cold outside, and I don't have any fur to keep me warm.  Boy, am I handsome in it!  I am always happy to see people and love any attention you give me.

I am currently on grain-free food, fish oil, allergy medication and a couple others to get me on the right path to feeling better.  I also get a bath twice a week with special shampoo.  I will be here awhile they tell me (and I am ok with that).  It could be several months until we are able to really get a handle on my issues.

But I wanted to let you know that I am here, and I will give updates from time to time.  Also, I am hoping there may be some people out there willing to help sponsor me since I will be here awhile, and all the care and trips to the Vet to get me 100% are going to be costly.  If you can help at all, LEARN and I would really appreciate it.  :-)

Happy Holidays and New Year!

Hairy
