My name is Copper, and I would love to find my forever home for the holidays. I am a 6 year old chocolate Lab, approx 63 pounds, with a lot of energy. My foster mom thinks I act like a puppy versus a 6 year old. I have lots of good qualities. I am house broken, crate- trained, love to go on long walks (not just around the corner), enjoy lots of attention, and I am dog and kid friendly (over the age of 8). I know how to sit, give paw, lie down, stay, come and leave it. One of my favorite things is to play fetch with a tennis ball. I love to carry around a stuffed animal in my foster home and sleep with it. Things that I am working on are my leash manners, counter surfing and whining. Lastly, I stay off the furniture and bed, unless you invite me up.
If you'd like to meet me, let LEARN know . ..after first completing an adoption application.
A little background on Copper. LEARN rescued him from the Anti-Cruelty Society in Chicago. He was surrendered twice, within 30 days. The last couple only kept him 4 days. When Copper arrived at our house , he was showing signs of anxiety by panting and pacing. This has gone away with proper exercise, massage and music (when we are gone). Recently, we were gone one weekend and Copper had someone stay at the house with him and he had shown signs of anxiety the first night we were gone, and then adapted.
