Hi! My name is Charlie. I was a stray before I was rescued, but I had a family at one point who taught me to be a good boy. I am potty-trained, crate-trained, walk well on a leash and know sit, come, stay, shake, and down. I could play fetch all day if you would play with me! I love tennis balls - but squeaky toys are my favorite.
I love going for walks, but I'm also a big cuddle bug if you want to stay in and snuggle with me. And I love belly rubs! My foster family has a female dog. I get along with her, but I would love a home where I'm the only dog because I love to be the center of attention. I have sensitive skin so I need grain free food. I do well in the crate during the day when my foster family is gone, but I would prefer to sleep on the couch if you let me.

Notes from my foster mom:
Charlie is a great dog. When I brought him to my house he made himself right at home; he was not nervous at all. He was found as a stray, but he doesn't act like it at all, and I don't think he would be the type to run away.
He loves to be spoiled. He hasn't required too much work on training, but he does need a family who will be persistent with him - such as not jumping and making sure he stays in sitting position until told to release. (He gets excited and sometimes will break his stay before told). If he doesn't get enough exercise he becomes more vocal and will jump more, but he's usually fine with a walk and playing some fetch - he requires a moderate level of exercise. He's overall pretty mellow but has his excited moments.
He loves to curl up next to you for cuddles. He does great in the house and will calm down if you want him to. We crate him during the day while I'm at work, but he would do well with free range. We've left him with free range for shorter periods of time, and he just sleeps on the couch. He loves attention and loves every person that he has met. We've noticed that he is nervous around other dogs, specifically male dogs. He does great with my female Lab, but I don't think he ever learned how to play with other dogs. A dog park is not the best environment for him - he gets nervous when other dogs walk right up to him. He needs a slow and good introduction with other dogs; otherwise it overwhelms him.
A home with no children or older children would be best for him. He is a very sweet boy who loves all people, but he doesn't understand his size and could easily knock over a little kid if he gets too excited. Charlie is a happy and goofy boy. He's eager to please and very treat-motivated. He loved it when we took him swimming, and he really would play fetch all day if we played with him. He is my shadow, he follows me everywhere. He's a really good boy who will love you forever. ~~~~~~~
