Mr. O is now available for adoption. :-) He is now in a foster home, neutered and up-to-date on all his vaccinations.

We now know a bit more about him. We believe he was not properly socialized and was probably outside most, if not all, the time. Luckily he is heartworm negative. He had NO MANNERS when he came to our home and acts more like a 7 month old dog than a 3 year old dog, but he has come a long way in the few days we've had him. He seeks attention, but then gets mouthy like a puppy, then rolls around on the floor if you won't engage in his silliness. It's really cute, but he's a big dog, and we need to make sure he understands he can't use his mouth for attention. He has started to "get" it and is now sitting still and enjoying a cuddle session.

Osio trots and gallops around and moves like a horse because his legs are so long. It's fun to watch him in action.

He has terrible leash manners and wants to get to every dog he sees and makes quite a ruckus doing so. Once he gets to the dog, he seems fine, but he needs a lot of work on this.  So I think he needs a family who is experienced and willing to work on his manners.

He gets along very well with our two males, even though my alpha male doesn't really like him very much. We have crated him when we've been out of the house, but with the holiday, it hasn't been for very long, but he did OK. We have a Nest Camera and watched him while we were out, and he barked a little bit, and then settled down and relaxed after a few minutes.

Osio is still very thin and may need a high calorie food to get some weight on him, since every thing points to him being a very healthy boy, just a high metabolism.

Osio is on hold for a little while.  He was exposed to canine flu and kennel cough at the shelter, so he is being boarded where he can be observed for symptoms and isolated from other dogs.  Once he is cleared of any kennel cough or flu symptoms, he'll be ready to move to a foster home, which should be soon.

Please consider sponsoring him to help defray the cost of his boarding and medical care.  Just hit the sponsorship button on our web site.  :-)  Osio and LEARN thank you for your help.

Osio is a beautiful, 3 year old Lab who was picked up as a stray when he wandered into a school on the south side of Chicago. He is a big, goofy guy who is eager to please.  He is a very handsome Field Lab with good sturdy legs and is very strong. We will update his profile once we get to  know him better, but so far he is a typical young Lab with lots of energy.

If you have already filled out an application and have had a home visit, email labmatch@labadoption.org. If you haven't done these things please start the process at www.labadoption.org/info/adoption
