Marnie is a petite 2-3 year old, female, black Lab mix. She was brought up to the Anti-Cruelty Society in Chicago from Tammany Parish in Louisiana. That's across Lake Pontchartrain north of New Orleans.  So she came a long way.  She's had at least one litter of puppies, and I bet she was a great mom as she loves everyone and everything . . . although she would really like to catch one of the many squirrels in our yard.

She only weighs about 49 pounds, which is probably a good weight for her to stay because she has an old fracture to her back right leg, but it doesn't seem to bother her. The Vet thinks it can be managed with supplements and weight control as she gets older. She has no problem going up and down stairs or on walks or playing.

She LOVES going to the dog park and literally dives head first into the pool and rolls in the water. She also loves finding a playmate who she can wrestle with. That seems to be her favorite thing to do. When she finds a dog she would like to play with, she rolls around on her back to try to get them to join in, as you can see in one of the videos.

Marnie loves kids and adults and doesn't seem to be afraid of anything and had no reaction to a thunderstorm we had the other night. She is crated when I go to work.  She will bark a little if one of her foster brothers goes to lie in another room, but she's fine as long as she has company.  So I would like her to have another dog in the house, or someone who is home most of the time.

She sleeps very quietly on her bed in our bedroom at night and doesn't make a peep. She's quite obedient and is very eager to please. I'm sure Marnie was probably not her name before, but she responded to it only 2 days after we picked her up. We think her previous owner, or at least someone she loved, had a loud motorcycle because when one goes by the park she runs to see who is on it.  So sad to see. She is such a sweetie; it's hard to understand how she could end up homeless, but she's on her way to a great life now!
