Spike

Spike has left his paw prints on our
hearts forever... |
We adopted Spike from L.E.A.R.N in
January 2001, he was around 8 years old at the time. He adapted so well so
quickly to his new home - just made us wonder where he spent the first
portion of his life.
During his time with us he brought us unconditional love and happiness, he
was truly a handsome yellow lab, very laid back, and loving. We soon
discovered he suffered from laryngeal paralysis which ultimately meant
having surgery and not fetching the ball as often as he had liked.
Four years later, after several bouts of pneumonia and mega-esophagus we had
to make a tough decision to put him down on May 5, 2005. Spike left us with
so many great memories: he loved eating fresh snow on a cold winters day,
car rides to grandma's, greeting us at the door with his duck, and making
sure we were aware it was time to get up at 6 a.m. with his "fake cough"
(which miraculously disappeared once you got his leash on). He loved to
sniff out the small dogs in the neighborhood making sure they knew he was
boss with his 100 lbs frame.
We were truly blessed to have had Spike in our lives; we only wish we had
had more time with him. It helps to know he's in a better place now, no
longer suffering, getting as many snausages as he wants, chasing balls in
the sunshine. Spike has left his paw prints on our hearts forever......
L.E.A.R.N is a great organization that truly cares about each and every dog,
making sure they go home with a loving family. We will always be in debt to
them for introducing us to such an amazing friend.
