Molly

...now we have our little Angel Dog
watching over us in Heaven. |
Almost as soon as Molly entered
our lives in the summer of 2003, we knew she was special. Her eyes, innocent
and loving, made everyone fall in love with her. The little grey spots on
her head, her only sign of older age, made her the topic of conversation
wherever she went - everyone thought that was "so cute!" She might have been
older, but she was spunky, sassy, and smart as a puppy. She would follow us
around the house, go everywhere with us in the car, and love her ears
flapping in the breeze.
Only a little over a year after she joined our family, we discovered
Molly had a mast-cell tumor on her hind leg. We operated immediately then
saw a specialist and started her on immunotherapy. Things looked promising
until mid-April 2005 when Molly became sluggish and stopped eating. We took
her to the specialist and after many hours of tests were told that she was
severely anemic, had a ruptured cancerous mass on her spleen, and lesions on
her liver. We were heartbroken and
confused - this seemed to come out of nowhere.
Megan, Molly's best friend and "sister" spent the entire next day with
her - feeding her whatever she would eat (which just happened to be peanut
butter and cookies), taking her for a beloved convertible ride in the car,
and snuggling up next to her when she'd have to rest because of the anemia.
It was a short and bittersweet day - and the numerous pictures of her
taken that day show her endless spirit, pride, and love for her "people."
It gives us great comfort to know that in dog heaven, there is no
epilepsy or cancer. Her time on Earth with us was short, but more meaningful
than she may ever know - and now we have our little Angel Dog watching over
us in Heaven. We love you Molly!
