Jenny
Forever reminding us about the
transforming power of love and its capacity to live long in our memories and
hearts |
Jenny was one of the first
acquaintances we made when we moved into our new home last summer. Not long
after we pulled into the driveway of our home after a long two-day drive,
Jenny greeted us by watering our lawn and showed us her coveted tennis ball
toys. That was the beginning of a wonderful new relationship with her
owners, Diane and Steve, who we have had the pleasure of knowing this last
year. Jenny was happiest when she had a tennis ball in her mouth, often
times putting two in her mouth if they would fit. Although a somewhat timid
and fearful black lab who was startled by loud and foreign noises, she was
never short of showering us with her love and affection, especially when she
knew we would play with her or scratch her belly. This past spring she
contentedly laid in the grass of our yard for what seemed like hours while
we spread new mulch in our garden beds. She had truly become at home with us
and with that, made us feel at home also.
Tragically, her life ended in July, quite suddenly, when she took ill and
never recovered. We were never able to say goodbye which always makes
closure more difficult. However, we share these memories in tribute to her
and to encourage and remind all of us about the transforming power of love
and its capacity to live long in our memories and hearts.
