L.E.A.R.N. sometimes accepts dogs into our care that require expensive specialized medical treatment. These dogs need our help and in order for that to happen, we need your help in the form of donations to help cover these costs. As always, we’re grateful for your generosity in any amount!
As donations are received, the names of the donors will be added to the list to the right of each dog bone (below) for the dog’s name that your donation has been specifically made for and the bone will grow taller! The more donations, the taller the bone!
Yellow Jake’s Story

Jake was surrendered to L.E.A.R.N. because he has heart worms. Because of this he will have to be in foster care for a couple of months. We had to search out a vet who has the medicine to treat the heart worms because there is a shortage of the drug used to treat them. He will go in for treatment on Monday. They actually shoot the medicine into my heart to kill the worms. Then he will not be allowed any exercise at all for several weeks to allow his body to absorb the dead worms. If he runs around there is a chance that the worms can break loose and travel to his lungs causing possibly respiratory failure and death. Once he gets past the treatments then he has to wait a few months to be neutered.

Midnight’s Story
Midnight is a 7 month old Lab mix that was hit by a car. Midnight broke her pelvis on both sides and her family was unable to afford the care that Midnight required. Midnight is currently still at the emergency clinic being cared for but will be moving into foster in the next week where she will need another four to five weeks of quiet crate time and then another month of rehab.
