My name is Cooper or Mini Coop as my foster mom calls me. I’m an approximately 8 month old lab mix that was picked up as a stray and saved by LEARN because my time was up at the shelter.

My foster mom says I’m very sweet and a quick learner. She’s always giving me kisses and telling me what a good boy I am. I’m house-broken, crate trained, know some commands like sit, but I am learning how to walk correctly on a leash.

I’m staying with 2 dogs and 2 cats and get along with all of them. I love playing tug and wrestling with my foster brothers, we also like to play chase – that’s when one of us is it and other dog chases us around the house trying to catch us. I’m very fast and hardly ever get caught. Foster mom gets mad at us sometimes because we make too much noise when we wrestle, but we give her that look and she starts laughing and lets us continue playing.

I would really like to have a home of my own, a family to love, play with, and teach me new things. Oh, I forgot to tell you I help with the laundry – I pick up any clothes that are left on the floor and run around the house with them so you know someone didn’t clean up after themselves. They learned real quick to pick up things they don’t want me to get.

If you think I would make a great member to your family please contact LEARN and let them know you’re interested in me Coop.

I came to be a LEARN dog because I was found as a stray. Since I had no name and am as cute a button, my foster mommy calls me Kate (or Katie). She says I’m as pretty as the Princess Kate! I appear to be approximately 1 year old, a purebred and am extremely shy/skittish. Any loud noise or fast movement will send me scampering to any one of my safe zones, of which my favorite is my crate.

My foster family lives on a farm and amazingly I do absolutely wonderful off leash, not going far outside the 30’ radius of my foster mom’s lead. We go on multiple daily off-leash walks during which I prefer to stay right next to my foster mom, but will occasionally venture out to explore with the other dogs. I don’t mind the lawn tractor, ATV, or the vacuum, but look out if the ice-maker should drop a load of ice in the freezer.

I love the game of fetch and am slowly learning that if I drop it at my foster mom’s feet she will throw it again. Love that! I love to ride in the car, absolutely LOVE to swim, but I still have to be fed in a closed room all by myself before I will eat.

I live with two older dogs and a puppy and am very good with all them as well as any new dogs I meet. The farm has three cats and the neighbor’s farm has 6 cats. I have never taken any interest in any of them, the chickens, or the horses. But wow! – those neighbor bunnies are fun to chase. But my mommy said I can’t do that anymore and I’m trying really hard not to. I am hoping for a Forever Home that will help me continue to learn that the world isn’t a scary place, that enjoys some daily exercise, but not too much because I do love my naps!

Oh yeah, forgot to tell you that I am on the small side, only about 60#.

I’m 10 years old but think and act like I’m about 5 or 6. I’m in great shape and quite handsome as you can see by my pictures. I’m on the smaller side (about 60 pounds) and not hyper at all. I love to play around with my foster brother so a home with another furry child would be great. I’m a really nice guy who gets along with everyone, adults, kids, dogs, cats.

I like to fetch and walk around with tennis balls in my mouth. Give me a belly rub and I’m as happy as can be. I’ll give you a signal by barking if I have to go out because I will not do it in the house. I like walks and love to ride in the car. I would fit in good with a family that isn’t real active or with a senior citizen. So, if you’re looking for an older gentleman, you can stop right here because I’m your guy.

Kramer here…I wanted to let everyone know-I went to my foster parents Dad & Moms place for ThanksGiving, there were a ton of people there, and they were all so happy to meet me! I was even given a bag of HUGE doggie biscuits by my foster mom’s Aunt who thought I was pretty handsome! I am settling in to at my foster parents house, and kinda’ coming out of my shell. I am learning that isn’t always necessary to bark for . My Foster Dad takes me on morning walks and I am learning all those strange things blowing across the road and fields are ok…I am going out in the fenced yard by myself (mom is always watching), that was a huge task-but accomplished-the dogs in the house have helped. If I do get startled though, I fall into a lump of mushy puppy, my confidence isn’t that great sometimes, but I don’t have a mean bone in my body – my mom says its ok. The kids in the house are always messing around and it doesn’t bother me in the least. And when Mom is making food I don’t even bother her, like my foster brother & sister do. I am getting better with the toys, and I am starting to play more with them, but I think Mom’s gonna’ classify me as a great couch buddy, I would just love too hang with my new family.

Kramer
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hi Everyone
Kramer here, just wanted to introduce myself. My foster parents say I am about 2-3 years old, handsome yellow male with beautiful brown eye’s, I was a stray and was in one of those shelters for awhile before LEARN came to rescue me.
I am a big boy, abit skinny at the moment, but my foster Mom is feeding me 2 times a day to get my body looking fine. My foster Mom says I am a snuggle bug, and I could do that ALL day long. I dont know to much about those funny sqeeky things and those things they call tennis balls-I dont remember ever seeing them before. Oh yes, they are called toys, I dont really know what to do with them. I might play with them for a short time, and my foster Mom laughs at me cause I am so goofy trying to figure out what to do. But really I don’t have much interest with them, I just want to be with my foster family.
I do like to take walks, all new too for me-but I am getting to like it. I like the dogs in my foster home. There’s a couple teenagers in the house too, they’re cool. Ive learned how to use the doggie door all by myself, and I dont mind the crate, they put me in when they run out for a few hours. I might like to go to a obedience class to to learn a few things. Stop by and check for updates. But I am a hunk of a handsome Good boy!
My name is Cooper and I am a 5 year old pure-bred yellow ball of love. Let me first start out by saying that these smaller feline critters that are in “my” house need to go. They have been torturing me by walking around and when I see them, they run away without me catching them in my mouth. So I would do best in a house without any of these creatures. I do enjoy playing with my 4 legged foster brother and sister. They are teaching me the ropes of what it means to be a good doggie.
I know two commands really well, sit and down. With your help, you can teach me more. I need some work on a leash, as my previous owners did not walk me much. I ride great in the car. Whenever the garage door is open, I automatically run to the back end thinking that I am going for a ride!! Can’t I please go for a ride??
I am currently up-to-date on all my shots and I am waiting for my forever family to pick me up in their car so we can have lasting memories together. Will that be you?
If you are interested in meeting me, please give LEARN a call and ask for Cooper. Oh, by the way, I am a girl dog.
UPDATE:
Jake is in the final stages of recovery from heartworm! He is doing great as he is getting healthier. Jake is mostly a quiet dog, but there are also times when he loves to run in the backyard or play with his sister. He absolutely loves going for walks and riding in the car. He is working on his manners, but may benefit from taking a class or two once he finds a forever home. Jake is becoming more comfortable being home alone, but he is happiest when people are around. He gets along well with other dogs and has great manners when he meets new people. Jake is a wonderful dog who would love to find his forever home soon!
UPDATE!
Hello everyone!
It has been 2 weeks since Jake started receiving treatment for heartworm. Yesterday he went back to the vet for a check-up and he continues to be getting better. The vet stated that he seems to have gotten through the worst of it, and just needs to stay quiet for a few more weeks. We are already beginning to see glimpses of a healthy and active Jake and look forward to seeing him in action when he is fully recovered!
He also has been working hard on his manners (sitting before the door opens, waiting for his food, recall, etc). He still has a bit to learn, but he is trying and continuing to make progress. Jake is an absolutely sweet dog. He does not jump or bark and is very affectionate.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My name is Jake. I am a 3 yr. lab and am a typical young lab. I have a little bit of training under my collar but would like to go to school to have better obedience skills. I am living with other dogs and cat and I love them all. I came from a family who had children. One of my favorite things to do is to get in bed in the morning with my foster Mom and snuggle.

I was surrendered to L.E.A.R.N. because I have heartworms. Because of this I will have to be in foster care for a couple of months. We had to search out a vet who has the medicine to treat the heart worms because there is a shortage of the drug used to treat them. I am going in for treatment on Monday so keep me in your thoughts. They actually shoot the medicine into my heart to kill the worms. Then I will not be allowed any exercise at all for several weeks to allow my body to absorb the dead worms. If I run around there is a chance that the worms can break loose and travel to my lungs causing possibly respiratory failure and death. Once I get past the treatments then I have to wait a few months to be neutered.

My foster Mom will send updates in a couple of weeks so you can follow my progress. Any help you can give to offset the costs of my medication would really be great and I will be sure to include you in my very own doggie list of thanks.

Lots of labbie kisses,

Jake

Cash also has hip dysplasia so he cannot jump off docks or jump for a Frisbee. He was brought to several surgeon and they all agreed that surgery was not the best option at this time. With proper nutrition and exercise he may never need surgery. He has full mobility of his hips and is not in pain. Due to his hip dysplasia he will need to be exercised everyday either by walks or swimming therapy and be kept on a grain free diet with supplements. His mobility has increased greatly with daily exercise and he loves doing it. Cash will give his forever family unconditional love and laughter for the rest of his life.

My name is Remington and I am a 2-year-old pure bred Labrador. As you can see from my pictures, I have a beautiful yellow coat and look very handsome. I currently live with 2 other labs and get along great with them. I also live with two cats that I love to say “hello”, but they just do their own thing. I LOVE to play fetch!!!! My favorite toy is either a tennis ball or a Frisbee. I will fetch the toy and even bring it back to you because I want you to throw it again and again!! My best trick is catching a frisbee in the air!! I will bring the Frisbee back to your hand and give it to you. The command “drop” is something I excel at.

I love to ride in the car and I stay in my kennel during the day. I am completely kennel trained and house broken. I tend to get up on the bed while my foster parents are sleeping because the bed is so soft. I have free range of the house while someone is home. I have been left out of my kennel while my foster parents are running errands, and they have come back to a damage-free house. If I stayed here any longer, I would be able to stay out of my kennel all day, even with no one home…because I am a good boy.

If you think I would be a good match for your family, please give LEARN a call and ask about me.

Lots of labbie kisses!!!

My foster parents say I am a good girl. I would love to find my new forever home soon so I can settle in for the rest of my life.

I would like to tell you a few things about me. I am well trained, listen very well and I don’t need to be on a leash; I stay close and don’t run. You’ll be happy to know that I don’t require a fence either.

I went to T.O.P.S. in Grayslake for 2 weeks, which is a doggie boot camp – so that should tell you I know my commands well. I can also scent locate. Oh, did I mention my greatest passion? Fetching – I could do it ALL day long; give me a tennis ball and watch me go. Get this, I can use my mouth to toss it back too you too! I am a multi-talented girl. My foster family didn’t crate me right from the day I came into their home, there was no need with my history, they trusted me. I am a really small, petite girl about 40-45 pounds. I love to ride in the car, love the water, and ride well in a boat. I get along well with the other dogs in the home and you should be happy to note that I am not a barker.

Hi everyone,
This is Sam. We took him in from a shelter last week. He spent a long day making the transport up to us. The volunteer who was helping with the transport called to let us know that he was very sick. She quickly got him to a ER vet. Sadly, he has Parvo and is fighting for his life right now. He has been at the emergency vet clinic since last Sat. getting IV fluids, meds to help with nausea and antibotics. Please say a prayer for Sad Sam and keep him in your thoughts.
