Jazmine

Jazmine wasn’t a LEARN alum, but her brother Jack was and so is Gunnar and through Jack I began to volunteer – so Jazmine became a part of the LEARN family too. After all, she put up with those young whipper-snapper foster dogs we took in.
Jazmine passed away on 5/7/10 after allowing me to be « more on jazmine »

Fanta

Normally all the lovable LEARN labs find their way into the homes and hearts of their foster family and then into the homes and hearts of a forever family. I want to share a little about our wonderful foster dog, Fanta, who touched our lives but recently lost his battle with cancer.

We just can’t say enough good things about L.E.A.R.N. and we are so grateful to them for matching us with Sam. We said goodbye to our dear lab friend of fourteen years in December 2007. After a couple months of mourning the loss it became more and more evident that our home greatly missed the « more on sam »

Dakota

We adopted Dakota (formerly known as Cassie) from LEARN on December 12, 1999. She was a great dog. Enjoyed going for boat rides, napping, the snow, playing with the neighbor kids, napping and waiting for people to drop food. Oh, did we mention napping.
It is with very heavy hearts that we let you know that « more on dakota »

Sparky

It is with much sadness that we are telling you about the passing of our black lab, Sparky. We adopted Patrick, which we renamed Sparky, from LEARN in March of 2000. Our boys were 2 and 5 at the time and they loved having the new member of our family. Sparky was such a great « more on sparky »

We had adopted Sandy from LEARN in 3/05. We recently had lost our SandyGirl to Liver Disease in 7/08. Please see the tribute letter below and attached photo we’d like to add to your Tribute Page on the Website.

Patsy

Patsy came to us at age 6 in 2005.  After sitting on the floor with us at Foster Mom’s, she eagerly bounded out of the house for the car.  Ever after that, she was always eager to get into the car.
Patsy seemed to love everyone.  Donna noted one exception.   One time a stranger came to « more on patsy »

Hercules

Hercules was adopted into our lives on January 19, 2003. Right from the start we loved his gentle personality. It didn’t matter to us that he didn’t like to swim or know how to catch a ball. Having Hercules lay by us or follow us around where ever we went brought us lots of happiness. « more on hercules »

Bailey

From the moment we met Bailey, we knew we were made for each other. On a warm summer day last August, she claimed us. She quietly leaned against our legs, wiggled her whole body as she wagged her tail, and rolled over for belly scratches. Our yellow lab, Callie, gave us the seal of approval « more on bailey »

Tucker

Tucker was just shy of sixteen months when we met him at the Gensons’, the home where he was being fostered. The day is easy to remember. It was September 10, 2001. We picked him up to take him home two days later.
He was an AKC certified Yellow Lab who didn’t meet the expectations of « more on tucker »

Mindy

I remember the day we picked up Mindy, there were 2 female yellow labs left in the litter, and of course they were adorable. We initially picked out Mindy’s sister, but I noticed she had a limp and the owner informed us that she had gotten hurt (I can’t remember how anymore). I thought to « more on mindy »

Lady

Darlene Boettin is my niece and Lady was part of the family. I adored her as I adore my own two girls, Lilly and Flash. She was the best dog ever and the best furry friend to have come into Darlene’s family. Kenny and Joey loved her (especially Kenny because he was with her longer).

Willie

Willie was an elderly yellow male lab that L.E.A.R.N. got from a vet clinic after his owner took him there to be euthanized. Although he was a senior dog, he was a major character and impressed us all with his gusto for life, and in particular swimming after his water toys and tennis balls. He « more on willie »

Benji

Benji entered our home and our hearts in December of 1999 at the age of 9 ½. We don’t know anything about his younger years, but we imagine him as a playful pup with a lot of spunk in his younger life.   Benji was such a sweet, gentle, and loving dog and our very best « more on benji »

Bear

Bear came to L.E.A.R.N. in his “senior” years and found one of our volunteers who fell in love with him and decided to be his “permanent foster home.”

Jenny was one of the first acquaintances we made when we moved into our new home last summer. Harley

Harley was an extraordinary yellow lab who was not adopted from LEARN but his dog sister, Hilde, was. So, we consider Harley a member of the LEARN family. Tyler

We met Tyler in June of 2000 when we decided to do foster care for L.E.A.R.N. He was just about to turn 7. Our intention was for Tyler to stay in the “non-carpet” areas of the house. That lasted one night. The second night, he could go anywhere up to the hallway to the bedrooms. « more on tyler »

Spike

We adopted Spike from L.E.A.R.N in January 2001, he was around 8 years old at the time. He adapted so well so quickly to his new home – just made us wonder where he spent the first portion of his life.

Molly

Almost as soon as Molly entered our lives in the summer of 2003, we knew she was special. Her eyes, innocent and loving, made everyone fall in love with her.
