KoKo lab 1931

Hi Everyone, I’m KoKo

When I came into foster care, most of my daily activity had consisted of going out to the yard for a quick potty. I don’t know how long it had been since I’d had a proper walk, but it was a long time. My foster parents got me on a regular program of twice daily walks- at first we just went down to the corner and back and I was pooped!! Now, I walk a mile or so in the morning and again at night and my foster mom told me I have muscles in my legs now. I get so excited to go outside to play that I do a funny little dance and it’s the only time I ever bark. I love meeting all of the other dogs on our walks and got to go to the dog park once. All the exercise and good food makes me feel younger and the vet said I’m doing just fine.

My recall was really really bad when I came to foster care. Now I know that when my foster family says to “come here” it usually means I’m going to get a treat or a pat on the head. I like that a lot.

One thing that’s not so great is that I’ve discovered the trash can holds really yummy stuff. My foster sister apparently didn’t know that because the trash can was just sitting there unguarded one day so I dived right in. What’s a girl to do? Now the trash is in the garage where I can’t get to it.

Thanks for reading my note- and if you’re thinking that I’m a pretty good girl with some good years left, contact LEARN and they’ll tell you how you can meet me!

If you’d like to adopt me, please complete and submit an adoption application or contact LEARN for more information.

My name is Ko-Ko, and I’m an 11 year-old chocoloate lab who was surrendered by my family due to divorce and foreclosure. True, I’m a little on the older side, but I’m still full of life and am looking for a new family to spend the rest of my years with. I’ve grown up with kids, and my foster ‘mom’ says I’m the sweetest dog ever. I get along great with my foster sister, and am also getting along with my foster family’s cat. Actually, I’m not at all interested in the cat, which is fine with her! I’m super affectionate and am adjusting really well to life in my foster home. However, I need a family to call my own- is that you?
