I am so happy to say that I am healed and ready to find my new home. I went on a play date this past weekend and had a blast in the doggie pool. I love water. I also had fun running (yes, running!) after the other dogs. No restrictions on my activities, so I can play all I want.
My foster home & I are evaluating applications, so stay tuned.

Hello Friends!
Happy Birthday to me on July 8th! I am now 1 year old.
My right knee repair is healed and I’m feeling very good. I just had my first play date and I’m not sore at all. My main focus was the doggie pool where I spent much of my time splashing and bobbing for tennis balls & apples. My left knee will be repaired on July 29th, so I’ll be out of commission for a while, but I expect a full and uneventful recovery.
I’ll send an update after my second surgery.

Hi Everyone: I’m having my first knee repair today, May 11th. I’ll be in a cast for 4 weeks and then I’ll have another 2-4 weeks recovery before my second knee surgery. I’m in good spirits and ready to take on the world! Watch for a picture of me in my cast. -Bella

Hi Everyone, I’m Bella.
I’m a 9 month old female yellow lab. My previous family learned that both my knees (ACLs) needed surgery and they weren’t able to get me the treatment that I needed, so they surrendered me to LEARN. No one really knows how I injured myself because I didn’t have any type of accident.
Since I’m still a pup, I can’t have surgery until my growth plates have fused. My next x-rays are this May to determine my progress. It’s possible that I will have surgery on one knee in May and the other knee in July. My recovery is expected to take until Fall. I’ll be on strict crate rest for much of that time, so I’ll be stir crazy by the time it’s over! But I’ll be one happy camper when I can run & play again.
For now, I’m enjoying my foster family where I have 3 dogs, 2 cats, and 2 humans, to keep me company. I walk kinda funny, so I can’t really play the way I want to, but don’t tell the cats because I think I have them right where I want them! Why do they keep slapping their paws at me?
